Sherlock star Andrew Scott has urged Fleabag fanatics to 'go out, get some fresh air' and joked that they should 'do something better' with their lives.

The All of Us Strangers star was asked what advice he would give to people 'still hung up' on the show which concluded five years ago.

The Irish actor told Entertainment Weekly: "Stop watching. Stop crying. Stop crying in your room with your curtains closed. Do something better with your life.

"It’s a great show, we all love it, but come on now, pull yourself together. Open the curtains and go outside.”

Speaking about his 'Hot Priest' status, he told PEOPLE in December 2023: “I think it’s great. It hasn’t prevented me from spreading my wings and it was such a wonderful character and there’s much worse things to be called in life."

Fleabag also starred Sian Clifford, Olivia Colman, Bill Paterson, Brett Gelman, Hugh Skinner, Hugh Dennis, Ben Aldridge and Jenni Richardson.

The Critic’s Choice award winner is currently starring in new Netflix thriller Ripley as con man Tom Ripley, based on Patricia Highsmith’s 1955 crime novel The Talented Mr Ripley co-staring Dakota Fanning, Johnny Flynn and John Malcovich.

On his all-consuming role, he said: “It was a huge amount of acting, but I thought it was really witty, and I thought it was just economically, beautifully and sort of scintillatingly written and seemed to have a real respect for the book without having too much reverence for it, made it very visual.

"I think the pacing and the look of the story is genuinely singular and unique.

“I see him absolutely as an antihero, but he’s the protagonist. He’s not the antagonist, so we’re seeing it through his eyes, that’s the whole part of it. It’s certainly dark… it’s a definite thing after you play somebody dark like that who has a completely different ideology to you.

"It’s different, you spend a lot of time in a dark place and don’t want to do it too much, but it was a great honour to play this character because he’s so multifaceted."

Ripley is available to stream on Netflix now.
