Montclair High School, at least for me, has been an interesting experience. I started freshman year during Covid, meaning that I didn't really experience the "normal" school experience. Once sophmore year occurred, it took time to adjust to the atmosphere of Montclair High. Then Junior and Senior year made me realize that after this, I have to worry about college. Montclair does have AVID, which helped me learn and understand the college experience and what to look out for. There are clubs at this school such as science club, art club, and crochet club, but I feel like they don't get as much respect and focus than it once did. Academics is there, and the school does focus on helping the students graduate in the future, but I feel like it doesn't involve the students in activities that they may consider fun. In all, Montclair High School is a good school, but does have a couple of negatives that could affect the students.
Senior year is for sure my best year at Montclair high. I become a office TA and got to interact with many staff members. Throughout freshman year I didn’t know my teacher other than through a screen. Sophomore and junior year I would just show up to show up. Senior year really showed me how much staff really does for the students and the time and patience they have with the students.
In general, I've had a pleasant time at Montclair High School. I am Mexican-American and most of the people at Montclair are too, I never felt out of place, or alone in my culture. I felt welcome and like I was amongst people from the same background.
