How many quad mixes were there, aside from the original version on QV 2001 (1973) and the version on Boxed (1976)? The one listed in the SDE release is dated 1975. I have heard both the 1973 and the 1976 mixes and without a doubt the 1973 mix is the best version of Tubular Bells IMO and it even includes the rare toy aeroplane sound at the end of side 2.

I'm listening to the David Kosten 2023 stereo mix of Tubular Bells (Part Two).
Am I the only one to have noticed that there is a huge mixing error during 2 minutes? It sounds as if the bass guitar was out of sync during approx 2 minutes.
From 09’03 to 11’01, the bass guitar beat should be synced with the timpani beat...but comes too early before the timpani beat (approx half a second).
The more it goes, the more it sounds out of sync, as if the bass guitar was playing a little bit faster than the rest of the tracks.
There are so many musicians in this group, I'm surprised no one else noticed it.
Clearly the bass track was not properly synced with the other tracks.
Listen to it with Headphones, it may be easier to hear the problem.
Too bad as the rest of this 2023 Stereo mix is stunning. 😢

As a spatial audio enthousiast, the absolute "star" of this release for me is 1975 Quad Mix.

The out of sync bass in part two of the new 2023 mix is irritating! During the "bagpipe guitars" from 9 to 11 minutes. Or is it just me?

It sounds superb. I think (or I hope) brickwalling is now a thing of the past. I collect the Now Yearbooks and the Ultravox box set reissues and they are not brickwalled.
