ABC – Beauty Stab

This record sounds very murky,probably because of the timing.Vinyl sounds good if they put around 15-20 minutes per side.The songs are almost as good as on the lexicon of love which is one of the best 1980`s pop albums ever.I still like this record a lot.

This album is ANYTHING BUT Synth pop...It is actually quite heavy with guitar riffs and heavy drumming. It probably alienated the fans who had discovered them with "The Lexicon of Love". This flopped at the time it came out but retrospectively, it is a pretty decent album. Become it sounded retro and outdated then, it is now living it its own timezone.

Seriously good lp. A darkness of the 80s is prescient. The shallow image explained. The reality of banality for most - described.

Lexicon is their masterpiece and possibly the best pop album of the 80s. I love this one too though. It’s got deeper lyrics about contemporary issues of the day. I love Andy Newmark’s drumming on it and Alan Spencer’s bass. As I have a remaster I’d like to try an original CD.

The single most underrated album of the 80s! It’s their best album and a f***ing feel-good rock masterpiece!

Very underrated. Has great songs with catchy hooks but played in a much harder rock style which didn’t sit well with their pop fan base

This is a seriously excellent album, perhaps lost in the shuffle of the seriously excellent albums ABC released before and after this.

Having purchased all versions of the available CDs for 'Beauty Stab' this is the best-sounding by far. It is also the ONLY digital version which does not have the awful tape issues on the strings during 'Bite The Hand'. These are very noticeable on both remasters unfortunately, and ruin this song, particularly on headphones. Still my favourite ABC album, with Zillionaire! and Lexicon of Love very close behind.
