Barry Corbin was born in Lamesa, Dawson County, Texas. His mother Alma LaMerle Scott was a teacher while his father Kilmer B. Corbin was an attorney and politician who served in the Texan Senate in the late 1940s up to a large chunk of the next decade.
Barry was born Leonard Barrie Corbin. He was said to have been named this by his mother after her favorite writer J.M. Barrie the Scottish author and playwright who lived between 1860 and 1937 whose most famous work is the curiously titled “Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up” a play which he later rewrote as a novel.
John Higgins is said to have a sister named Jane Higgins but the link Wikipedia gave on her account is of a certain Jane Higgins who was born and raised in the United Kingdom. Her timeline doesn’t suit that of the Corbin patriarch and he couldn’t have fathered her in the 1950s.

He had had an affair with a woman decades ago and she became pregnant without informing and gave the baby out for adoption when she was born. Somehow, she found him.
