The basilica is absolutely brutish and a unique representation of organic architecture. Antoni Gaudi is a modern day genius and the tour is moving. I spent three hours just walking and being moved.

Be prepared for crowds and tour buses. We were so overwhelmed that we did not go inside. But because this Modernista building is on the Passeig, you can step back and get a good perspective on the unique design and also get some good photos.

This is a very nice part of the city to visit, specifically the cathedral is very unusual and leaves an impression. If you buy a ticket, you can go to the roof of the cathedral, the view is not wow, but it is not bad either.

This is the most stunning theatre you will ever see. It’s hard to know where to look. It’s a piece of art. Entry is €18 or €22 with an audio guide. We were very lucky to hear somebody playing the organ while we were in there and it was amazing! The details are incredible. Have a look.

This is one of the superb Mondernista buildings, originally apartments. Very unusual undulating design. It's on everyone's bus tour and walking tour, so be prepared for big crowds. But since it is located on the wide Passeig, you can step back and get a good perspective and a good photo.

We visited with two boys aged 10 and 8. Although the Nou Camp is under constriction and therefore not open, we had a brilliant trip. The museum is excellent and really well done, and the virtual tour and Robokeeper are great fun. We spent a morning there and weren’t disappointed with any of it.

A jewel in this part of Barcelona. The quarter is pleasant even if touristic. The church as such is worth seeing outside and inside, take the time to browse the interior, statues, paintings and enjoy.

It's long and wide and an absolute must for the visitor. Along this lovely avenue you will find some of the most famous Modernista buildings, plus some elegant shopping. A Metro line runs underneath. It leads up hill to Gracia, my favorite neighborhood for the cool vibe. Cafes along the way.

On our way back to the city centre from Torre Bellesguard we walked the 30 minutes (mainly because we couldn't get a taxi) to Casa Vicens for another dose of Gaudi.

Very different to Bellesguard in that there is a lot of colour throughout Casa Vicens as opposed to the more 'cement' look of Bellesguard. This being Gaudis first design you can see its influences of his later buildings Casa Batllo and Mila with his signature nature influence and colours.

The route throughout the building is straightforward, starting in the gardens you go up throught the building room by room onto the roof which in usual Gaudi style is a highlight.

When we arrived we were told it was online booking only so got our phones out and booked tickets there and then and walked in, which seemed a little silly but there you go.

Another fantastic building to visit in Barcelona, at 18 euro a person it is a little on the expensive side but you only have to do it once.

Palace Guell is well worth a visit if you have the time. $12 for a standard ticket gets you in to explore this fascinating building. You can buy a skip the line ticket online but we just turned up and bought one on the day.
The building has so much intricate detail and impressive architecture.
It’s hard to know where to look first .

Booked in advance to do the after hours tour. This was fabulous! We were able to walk through the cathedral when it was empty which we felt incredibly lucky to do. We did a tour up onto the rooftop which fabulous views of the City.

We attended one night, hoping that we could enjoy the spectacular view of the fountain and the city. Sadly, the fountain was turned off, I guess because of the winter months. We were still able to enjoy some rather spectacular views down into Barcelona, which made the trip worthwhile. Just a shame that the fountain was not on at the time. Do make sure you go to the very top of the steps/escalators.

Beautiful facility. Working in healthcare, I feel privilege to tour a historic hospital. Seeing what was then and now was revealing of the advances made through science and time. I love this institution bec it was easy to enter. Not much waiting. Even though the web site specifies a time, we showed up over 40 mins late because we were lost and the staff were kind saying “not to worry.” Plenty of bathroom access and are very clean. A great place to visit and spend an entire morning marveling at all the visuals.

It's a wide street running from the center of town through one of the very old quarters. Even though the street is wide with a big sidewalk down the center, it gets very crowded, mostly with tourists. Kiosks and buskers in the center. You can buy food, drink or souvenirs. Charming neighborhoods with deep history on either side. The Metro runs underneath.

One of my favorite neighborhoods, very old, full of charm, yet very safe and in very good condition. Full of typical restaurants and cafes, so a good place to eat and drink. Good for pedestrians. Come and get lost.
