EdFringe casting call for Kingdon Theatre/Atina Arts

Kingdom Theatre / Atina Arts have put out an open call for two actresses for their production of Sinatra: The Final Curtain during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2024

This is a profit share. The roles demand a strong or decent singing voice. The production will play week three of the Fringe (Mon 19 – Sat 24 August 2024), with rehearsals the previous week. Playing ages are around 60 years and early 20s. Cut off date for the callout is Friday 19 April 2024.

Sinatra: The Final Curtain was first staged during the Leith Festival of 2012, going on to the Edinburgh Fringe that year and the following, when our reviewer Hugh Simpson said it was a “★★★☆☆ Crowdpleaser with potential“.

Other publications gave it five-star reviews, however, and it had nightly sell-outs to standing ovations. The production also went to London’s Lost Theatre in 2014 to further critical acclaim.

ROLE 1
Barbara Sinatra / Professor McKenzie
American accent required.
Playing age is around 60yrs (you do not have to be this age but must be able to play convincingly). Must be able to play a glamorous and flamboyant character for Babara Sinatra and a no nonsense, straight laced, to the point Doctor (Professor McKenzie).
The role also requires a decent singing voice for some ensemble singing.

ROLE 2
Rosie the Nurse
American accent required.
Playing age 18 – 25 yrs. Must be able to convincingly play a slightly vulnerable but assertive, caring and endearing character. While this is fundamentally a straight role, comedy timing is required.
The role also requires a good singing voice for a short duet and ensemble singing.

Venue: Greenside @ George Street
Time slot: 4pm
Run dates: Monday 19 – Saturday 24 August.
Tech slot: Sunday 18 August
Rehearsal dates: Saturday 10 – Saturday 17 August.

Atina Arts add: “These roles are, in essence, Profit Share however transport costs (within reason) will be reimbursed and there is a guarantee of £100 show run.

“This production may go back into rehearsals post Fringe run as the current plan is to take this production on a short tester small scale tour.

“Anyone interested in either of these roles should email their CV and a recent photo (head & shoulder photo only) to info.atinaarts@gmail.com. Cut off date for this call-out is Friday April 19, 2024.
