- Edited one year agoDisc 2 of this Hep release contains the best-sounding CD version of Bennie Moten's famous December 13th, 1932 recording session. This 1932 session laid the groundwork for what would become the 1937 Count Basie sound. Here, it sounds natural with a full dynamic range. You can clearly hear every cymbal hit and bass note. It was mastered by the late John R.T. Davies, an expert in extracting music from vintage sources such as 78s. For this release, Davies clearly used clean sources in possibly mint condition.
