What travelers are saying
- Lauren CBrooklyn, NY21 contributionsThis museum is spectacular! As is Michele. I was told about this museum from a local and I was SO lucky I visited before I left Aspra. I’ve traveled quite a bit and have been to most of the “ greats” i.e the Louvre, Vatican, etc but the Museo dell'Acciuga was seriously the best museum I’ve ever visited BY FAR. This passion project (admission is free so please make sure you leave a generous donation!) comes from the heart and is beautiful tribute to Sicily, keeping alive a part of history. My visit was so special and moving that I haven’t really processed it yet. It’s hard to put into words the emotions given by Michele in this dynamic and interactive exhibit - part history lesson (but more fun!) part trip down memory lane, part show (ranging from historic relics. select artworks on display from local artists, visuals, music, so many photo opps (with you as the star!) and impromptu live concerts by the man himself! It was such an authentic, unique and overall incredible experience on all levels (especially being Italian-American). I teared up quite a few times in fact. Grazie di cuore Michele for letting me into your magical world. I will cherish this experience deep in my heart for as long as I live. And I will whole-heartedly recommend your museum as the best one I know, to everyone I know! - FredrikbStockholm, Sweden191 contributionsLow season. Rain day gold activity for grey rainy day. Lots of art and rooms to uncover. The museum is a little torn down and I don't think renovating is a priority. Interesting history as it once was a family living there to basically where it is today. Industrial area...but yeah, friendly staff...go there!Written May 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Mr Drago is really welcoming and spent a long time discussing items and telling us about artists.
We did not buy a piece but I left with a gorgeous Italian book illustrated by local artists.

Thanks 🙏 to the lovely and dynamic Princess Alliata who welcomes her guests with such grandeur and simplicity.
The feeling, the ambiance and the aristocratic touch make all the difference. Magnificent old Palace very well restaured and maintained.
View overlooking Mediterranean Sea from the terrasse remind you all the stories about Sicilia Kingdom which is something different from Italy 🇮🇹
Might this aristocratic and old Sicilian Family keep traditions and power for the forthcoming centuries.

There is a car park at the front but not just for the villa as is right in the centre of town but we easily found parking on the road. I thought this was quite an expensive attraction compared to other places we had been and the only place to charge kids. Price was €6 for adults and €3 for kids. We tried to take our time but I'm not sure we were there for even half an hour. You go upstairs into the villa, the rooms are painted and beautiful but there are only a few rooms to see. Then a quick walk in the garden looking at the statues. If you are in the area it's worth a visit but not worth going out of your way for.Written August 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brun066Florence, Italy12,728 contributionsIn an area like this, many are the clues that lead to reflect on the gap between the beauty of nature and the poor management of it. E. g., the sea promenade in the neighboring Porticello village is in fact ugly and smelly, the road leading from Porticello to Aspra runs along the coast but the sea is not accessible due to the second houses that prevent (probably unlawfully) almost every access.
Luckily, a new hope for some improvement has been recently given by the story of this "Arco azzurro" (Blue Arc). Until recently also it had been progressively closed to any access from the public street; as I understand it, thanks to some citizens' engagement, a gate was recently reopened by the municipality - managed by young volunteers - again allowing access to this geological wonder.
It's a bit difficult to locate the access point, you probaly will need to ask for information in the area around (so we did). But on the spot, the satisfaction for this recovery of public access to the heritage is such that I would willingly pay even more than the inexpensive 2 euro entry ticket.
It is hoped that this situation will remain stable, and that the lack of civicness will not overwhelm it again.Written November 10, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
