Bacary Sagna has just tweeted about major Arsenal claim he made back in May

Okay so Arsenal are definitely the real deal.

Everyone has known this for quite a while but a lot of other football supporters have been waiting for the wheels to come off their Premier League title charge.

But Arsenal are top of the Premier League and will bring a five-point cushion into Christmas after Saturday.

Mikel Arteta’s side beat Wolves 2-0 at Molineux to extend their advantage over Manchester City to five points, with Pep Guardiola’s side losing to Brentford earlier in the day.

Last May, when Arsenal weren’t even in the top four, former right-back Bacary Sagna made headlines via The Daily Mail with a bold prediction about his old side winning the Premier League title under the Spanish manager.

And here’s what the Frenchman has written on Twitter in response to Saturday’s win.

At the time, Arsenal weren’t even in the top four and it looked like they had squandered their hopes of getting back into the Champions League.

And at the time, Arteta’s stock among the Emirates Stadium faithful wasn’t all that high.

So to make a prediction like that really does speak volumes about Sagna’s faith in his former teammate and it’ll be fascinating to see whether he is proven right because, despite what he says, he isn’t right yet.

We’re a little more than a third of the way through the campaign and there’s plenty of time for Guardiola’s troops to make up that five-point deficit after the World Cup.
