Bbc In Concert 1972-1973. Wegen Ham gekauft, der den Freitod wählte. Seine letzte Arbeit mit Badfinger ("Head First") blieb lange unveröffentlicht.
Rezension aus Deutschland vom 15. September 2014
Come & Get It...
Qualität ist eigentlich sehr gut. Schließlich stammt es von der BBC. Offiziell!
Wie gesagt, aber get it eher Studio... Wish You Were Here zum Beispiel.

Es gibt Live Aufnahmen, die zumindest teilweise besser sind als die Studioversionen, man denke hier z. B. an Live at Leeds von the Who oder Weld von Neil Young. Badfinger`s BBC in Concert 72-73 bleibt weit hinter deren Studioaufnahmen zurück.
Fazit: Nicht empfehlenswert!!!

Badfinger turns " Power Pop" into " Hard Rock" in Concert !!!
Rezension aus den Vereinigten Staaten vom 28. September 2017
I have always loved the B.B.C. Live recordings because the average B.B.C. Live recordings were done inside a studio at the radio station through a top quality soundboard & what generally would be the result was the best of both worlds, especially from bands that grew up listening to this radio show !!! What I mean by the best of both worlds was you had the clarity of a top quality soundboard recording with all the excitement & energy of a live show!!! However this C.D. is not recorded from the radio studio but was recorded from three different live performances!!! Two are taken from show's played at the Paris Theater in London & the last song on this C.D. " Come & Get It" was from Top of the Pop's. Badfinger is often called " Power Pop' , but if you listen to the music on this C.D. there is no denying Badfinger played " Hard Rock" at their Live Shows!!! This is a great collection of song's that showcase the incredible talent that all four member's of Badfinger had!!! Pete Ham is mostly remembered for being the head song writer for Badfinger & his talent as a guitarist is to often overlooked! But consider this when George Harrison looked for help with guitar skill's in the studio it was from the likes of Eric Clapton until George met Pete Ham who not only joined George Harrison along with the rest of the members of Badfinger for The Concert for Bangladesh George Harrison also asked Pete Ham to play guitar on Georges album's " All things must Pass" & " Living in the Material World"!!! Pete Ham was not a good guitarist he was a great guitarist & it's all captured here on this C.D. for you to hear!!! Unfortunatley Stan Polley ( Badfinger's Manager) ruined Badfingers career when he robbed them & told the recording company Warner that Badfinger failed to honor their contractual agreement!!! This is a utterly insane lie because Badfinger had recorded four album's worth of material during the time they were with Warner in 1974 !!! It was Stan Polley's threats of lawsuits and lie's that deterred Warner properly promoting Badfinger & effectively stopping any other high profile label from taking a interest in the band that had millions of dollars of ongoing litigation, lawsuit's & potential debt hanging over Badfingers heads!!! So not only did thief extraordinaire Stan Polley ruin Badfinger's career at the time he also tied up their music for decades!!! This obviously hurt the band but it also hurt Badfingers fans I don't even think any of Badfingers music was put out on Cassettes!!! This basically stopped two decades worth of potential new fans from hearing a true Badfinger album/Cassette/ C.D. !!! I could go on & on about Badfingers ill fated career, but your probably more interested in this C.D. !!! Well it is not the greatest live recordings I have ever heard but it is certainly worth hearing or having to put in your Rock & Roll Library's & it is a must have for avid fans of Badfinger!!! I am a big Badfinger fan & incourage any lover of classic Rock & Roll to give them a listen before their music gets tied up in litigation or becomes to expensive to purchase. I can honestly say I have never heard a Badfinger or Ivey's album/ C.D. I didn't like or feel it had much to offer in any Rock & Roll collection!!! The Iveys were Badfinger's pre- Apple record's name.

a big hand for bad finger
Rezension aus den Vereinigten Staaten vom 7. Dezember 2018
Badfinger is one of those bands on my list of bands that shoulda made it big. From the time they were signed to the Beatles Apple label they were churning out hits for several years before they slipped into mediocrity and then disappeared. due to bad management they barely saw a dime and then its 2 principle songwriters committed suicide. Tragic end to a band that had the right mixture of pop sensibility and hard hard rock as well as spot on vocals. If youre not a Badfinger fan then this live outing is a bad place to start. Youre probably better suited to start with No Dice of the Magic Christian soundtrack. However if you want a stripped down no effects or overdubs then this recording is exactly what the doctor ordered. When you here the harmony vocals it sounds like they are having trouble hearing one another but at the same time everyone hits their notes. The guitar solos show that although Badfinger is better known for getting some of its songs on the top 10 list they could rock out as raw & heavy with the best of them. No gimmicks and no greatest hits here, just a damn good band showing they were so much more than a studio band from Apple Records. For Badfinger completists only.

Badfinger, the BBC concerts 1972-73.
Rezension aus dem Vereinigten Königreich vom 25. September 2020
A cracking CD of 15 live tracks recorded at the BBC concerts in 1972 and 1973.
Tracks 1-7, recorded at the Paris Theatre, London on 8 June 1972.
Tracks 8-14, recorded at the Paris Theatre, London on 10 August 1973.
Track 15, recorded at Top of the Pops in 1970.
There is not a duff track on the album, great music from a band that should of had more success, but, they were ripped off and treated really badly by the sharks in the music business.

GOOD LIVE ALBUM
Rezension aus den Vereinigten Staaten vom 17. November 2000
The true test of a band is how they come off during a live performance. Judging by this historical disc, Badfinger was a good live band. On their studio recordings, their performances were polished and well-rehearsed; live, the songs are still melodic, but there is more power and grit, qualities that the studio producer softened to gain radio play. This disc shows Badfinger jamming, the wailing guitar solos extending songs- listen to the long renditions of the two Dave Mason tunes- and hear a "singles" band really boogie! The sound is very good quality. This disc will take a place of honor next to my copies of STRAIGHT UP and NO DICE. At one time, I owned all of their vinyl releases up to the time of Pete Hamm"s unfortunate demise, and I'm sorry I sold them. Many folks treated this band lightly- they were not lightweights, as this live disc proves.
