在创作《Bad Romance》的过程中，Lady Gaga在俄罗斯、德国和东欧花了许多时间去研究音乐，当她在德国听说了有“电子浩室（house-techno）”这种音乐之后，就突然萌生了想要制作一种带有流行风格的实验音乐，而她也希望自己这一次制作的音乐，不会与1980年代的音乐沾边。在歌曲的副歌部分中，Lady Gaga就想到要采用1990年代流行的音乐旋律 [7]。同时，RedOne也参与了歌曲的编曲、音乐制作 [8]。
