Is it too late for a Roman Empire run ?

Advice Wanted
r/eu4 - Is it too late for a Roman Empire run ?

I started a chill Florence campaign forming Tuscany etc.. However recently , I thought it may be possible to form the Roman Empire. France is incredibly strong with Naples as a PU but doesn't have any major alliances. Ottomans and Mamluks are doing well and I am not so sure where to go next. Any help would be much appreciated.
