Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have released their original score for Luca Guadagnino’s film Challengers.
The score arrives two weeks after Reznor and Ross released Challengers [Mixed], which saw DJ and producer Boys Noize their original compositions from the film and remix them into one continuous, club-ready set. Now, coinciding with the release of Challengers, Reznor and Ross have shared the original score in full.
Starring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist, Challengers takes place in the dramatic arena of competitive tennis, and features a love-and-sporting triangle between the three leads. At the center of the film is Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ buzzing, techno-forward score; in her review of the film, Senior Entertainment Editor Liz Shannon Miller lauded their compositions, describing the score as “bringing a level of bombast to the sports action that at times threatens to overwhelm the action, without ever actually proving distracting.”
The Challengers score also features, “Compress/Repress,” an original track with lyrics co-written by Luca Guadagnino. The score is comprised of 16 tracks and arrives today via Milan Records. Stream the Challengers score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross below.
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have certainly been prolific when it comes to their film scores, working on the soundtracks for The Killer and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles last year. The pair also recently teased a new Nine Inch Nails album as well as the launch of their new media company.
