Middle school student: FSA is a great school. I started attending in 5th grade, during the pandemic, and even virtually the teachers helped me connect with students and get a good grasp of the school. In middle school, pretty much all the teachers assist the students well, and provide coursework that is not too rigorous but still still is a bit challenging in the best way. The workload is not too heavy, it really depends on the grade level academics you are taking. For example I am a 8th grader, taking 9th grade ELA. The teacher is amazing and helps out immensely, but there is a lot of work so you have to stay on top of it. The overall school environment is very welcoming, positive and clean. However, this is a very academic oriented school so if you are very big on sports I'd say this would not be your best bet. The clubs are all very helpful, be it science olympiad, model un, math bowl, etc. I would say this is possibly one of your best options for sending your children to school, and they 100% grow here.... Senior: For the most part, GSMST was a very nice school to attend. The staff and teachers are nice and very supportive of their students. I’ve personally had many teachers who offer to give extensions or makeups if a student is getting too stressed or have something going on at home. The school itself offers many chances for others to get help from staff or get tutoring from teachers and peers. GSMST also offers many chances for students to build communities with each other: wellness days, clubs, and after school games. Though the workload can become excessive at times, it does work to prepare for college and helps to build valuable skills for the future. The staff still works to improve workload though, and make it a little easier for the students to succeed. Parent: The Transition program has been wonderful for my children; the teachers are nothing short of miracle workers and have changed the education experience from one of anxiety to joy! I would be nice if the Transition classrooms could be on the same hall as the mainstream classrooms in the Lower School. Having them separated tends to call them out and set them up for some shame. While I know Maymester hasn't begun yet, I haven't been that impressed with it. I wish the parents had a little more involvement in the selection process. Leaving it entirely up the the student is a little problematic. Overall, Woodward has been the best decision I've made for my family! Both my children and myself have made life-long friends. Senior: Since coming to Paideia in 9th grade, I have had such an amazing and lucky experience. Every administrator and faculty pours tireless work into their students and wholeheartedly supports them in any way. The classes are challenging, but they prepare you for your next step and, in most cases, are enjoyable. The close connections students inevitably form with teachers are invaluable. The most special thing about Paideia is that you can engage in basically anything you want--student government, sports, interest clubs, affinity clubs, service organizations, etc--it's all there for you. Junior: Alliance is a great experience for those who want to go there. If you don't want to go then you won't have a super good time. Most of the teachers are really passionate about what they're teaching and/or the clubs that they endorse. There are a few teachers who don't know how to teach, but other than that the teaching is great. The culture itself is a little competitive but, overall, it is an extremely accepting and diverse school that is very supportive and chances are, you won't be alone in anything. Junior: Mount Pisgah has been an incredible fit for me! I grew up at a small k-8th grade school, and my freshman year I went to large public school that I was zoned for. It was not a good fit for me. I value smaller class sizes, and desire to truly know my teachers, and feel known by them. I began looking for other schools, and had some family friends whose kids went to Mount Pisgah. We toured and immediately realized it was the proper fit for my twin sister and I. Upon arrival, the facility, teachers, and staff were more than welcoming. The students were incredibly inviting and inclusive, making me feel genuinely wanted and known from my first day. Alum: I loved my time at the galloway school! The alternative approach to learning has really set me up well to succeed in life, and I made so many lasting connections! I truly looked forward to school everyday. However, current administration is leaning away from the 'galloway way'.
