Curriculum – Ashton on Mersey School

Curriculum

The Dean Trust Curriculum, which is delivered at Ashton on Mersey school, aims to develop powerful knowledge, global citizenship, healthy mind, body and soul, ambition and aspiration for all pupils and students; these values underpin an ambitious curriculum for all at Ashton on Mersey school. Our curriculum encourages social and economic mobility through a well-structured and highly aspirational schema that remains as broad as possible for as long as possible. The English Baccalaureate is at the heart of our offer; the curriculum intends to inspire and equip all pupils with the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in school and beyond Ashton on Mersey.

The curriculum has been designed within each subject area to ensure pupils have a firm grasp of what they need to know at each key stage of their education. Every subject has developed a set of threshold concepts which set an ambitious age-related expectation for all pupils. This translates into a 7-year Curriculum Pathway in every subject; this builds on the KS2 National Curriculum taught in our feeder primaries and prepares our pupils to enter our Sixth Form.

Extra-Curricular

We are proud of the extra-curricular offer at Ashton on Mersey School. There is a diverse and exciting range of clubs on offer with activities after school and at lunchtime. There really is something for everyone.

We would like all pupils to sign up to at least two clubs.  However, for our Key Stage 4 pupils this can include extra-curricular revision.
