    This shady hike under the canopy of towering redwood trees has a similar feel to hikes at Muir Woods. Keep an eye and ear out for owls as you stroll beneath the canopy of ancient trees. It's a good idea to download your map ahead of time because cell service is not great at the park. Dogs are not allowed on any dirt trail or dirt road in the park, but they are allowed on leash on park roads and at the Bullfrog Pond Campground if you are camping there.

    A pleasant mostly-shady forest hike around the two ridges bordering the Armstrong redwood grove. The trail is challenging but the trails are well-maintained and plenty of shade. The trail can be hiked in either direction. The elevation is similar regardless which direction you chose. Trekking poles are recommended.
