Television Play-by-Play

• Is in his eighth season as D-backs' television play-by-play voice on FOX Sports Arizona alongside analyst Bob Brenly.
• Spent 12 years at ESPN as "SportsCenter" anchor and "Baseball Tonight" host, while also working as a play-by-play announcer for ESPN's league-wide MLB package as well as the College World Series Super Regional.
• Spent 3 years as a sports anchor at CNN in Atlanta prior to joining ESPN.
• Worked as a sports anchor and reporter for network television affiliates in Connecticut, Florida, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Virginia.
• Graduated from Boston’s Emerson College in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism.
• Native of Medfield, Mass.
• Steve and his wife, Cindy Brunson, reside in the Valley.
• Brunson is a play-by-play voice for Pac-12 Network's women's basketball and women's softball telecasts in addition to her role as a sideline reporter for men's football and basketball…she is also the television play-by-play voice for Texas Tech women's basketball...Brunson spent 13 years at ESPN as a "SportsCenter" anchor and women's basketball studio host.

Television Analyst

• Is in his 11th season as D-backs' television analyst on FOX Sports Arizona broadcasts after returning to the organization in 2013…was the club's original analyst from 1998-2000.
• Was named to the D-backs' 20th Anniversary Team in 2018 as the club's manager.
• Spent 8 seasons as an analyst for Chicago Cubs games from 2005-12.
• Has served as an analyst for TBS during the postseason and has worked 3 World Series, 2 All-Star Games and numerous Division Series and League Championship Series in the booth.
• Managed the D-backs from 2001-04 and guided the franchise to its first world championship in 2001…his .536 winning percentage is the second highest in D-backs’ history and his 303 victories rank third on the all-time list.
• Selected as a NL reserve for the 1984 All-Star Game…played 9 seasons in Majors with the San Francisco Giants (1981-89) and Toronto Blue Jays (1989) and was a career .247 hitter with 119 doubles, 91 homers and 333 RBI in 871 games.
• He and his wife, Joan, live in Scottsdale…they have 2 children, Lacey and Michael.
• Michael is the Red Sox' bullpen catcher…was a catcher in the Cubs' (2008-12), D-backs' (2013) and Red Sox' (2014-15) organizations.

Radio Play-by-Play

• Is in his 23rd season calling D-backs games, having been with the team since its inception, and his 15th season with radio partner Tom Candiotti.
• Delivered the call of Luis Gonzalez’s walk-off, ninth-inning single to win Game 7 of 2001 World Series over the New York Yankees.
• Was behind the mic for many of Randy Johnson’s historic achievements, including his perfect game on May 18, 2004 @ Braves, his 20-strikeout game, his 3,000th and 4,000th strikeout games and more.
• In addition to Johnson’s perfect game, has called a trio of no-hitters: D-backs’ Edwin Jackson on June 25, 2010 @ Rays, Cardinals’ Jose Jimenez on June 25, 1999 @ D-backs and Marlins’ Anibal Sanchez on Sept. 6, 2006 vs. D-backs.
• Has called numerous historic D-backs moments, including Aaron Hill’s cycles on June 18 vs. Mariners and June 29 @ Brewers in 2012.
• In recognition of his 2,000th D-backs’ broadcast, the organization honored Schulte by distributing a bobblehead in his likeness to the first 15,000 fans on July 10, 2010 vs. Marlins.
• His unique home run call of “deep drive…warning track…wall…you can touch ‘em all” is synonymous with D-backs radio broadcasts.
• From 1998-99, Schulte and Bob Brenly partnered for 3 innings nightly on television.
• His nickname “the Gubnuh” was bestowed upon him by Brenly and Thom Brennaman.
• Part of the Phoenix broadcast scene since 1979.
• Grew up in Silvis, Ill., population 3,000, a part of the Quad-Cities.
• He and his wife, Nancy, reside in the Valley and have 2 children: Scott and Stephanie.

Radio Analyst

• Is in his 15th season as D-backs radio analyst, working alongside Greg Schulte for the entirety.
• Former knuckleball pitcher went 151-164 with a 3.73 ERA and 1,735 strikeouts in 451 games during a 16-year Major League career with the Milwaukee Brewers (1983-84), Cleveland Indians (1986-91, 1999), Toronto Blue Jays (1991), Los Angeles Dodgers (1992-97) and Oakland A’s (1998-99)…recorded 10 or more wins in 8 different seasons, and upon retirement was ranked in the top 100 all-time in wins, strikeouts and ERA.
• Posted a 72-65 record with the Indians during the 1980s, including his best season when he was 14-8 with a 3.28 ERA in 1988.
• Was traded to the Blue Jays mid-way through 1991 season and went 6-7 with a 2.98 ERA during the pennant stretch while also making 2 starts in American League Championship Series…finished the regular season with a 2.65 ERA, which was just .03 points behind Roger Clemens (2.62) for the AL ERA title.
• Signed with the Dodgers as a free agent prior to the 1992 season and compiled a 52-64 mark despite having a 3.57 ERA in 6 seasons in Los Angeles.
• Originally played for the independent Victoria Mussels in 1979…in 1980, had his contract purchased by Kansas City Royals then was claimed in the Rule 5 Draft by Milwaukee Brewers.
• Following his playing career, served as a special assistant to the general manager with the Indians from 2000-01.
• Established his broadcasting credentials as an analyst with ESPN, both during MLB game coverage and on the set of “Baseball Tonight,” from 2001-05…while with ESPN, also served as an analyst for the Little League World Series and wrote a column for ESPN.com.
• Was a color television analyst for the Blue Jays from 2002-05.
• An accomplished bowler, was named to Professional Bowling Hall of Fame’s celebrity wing in 2007 and regularly participates in Professional Bowlers Association Tour events in Arizona.
• Appeared briefly in Billy Crystal’s 2001 movie “61*” as pitcher Hoyt Wilhelm, who was known for throwing knuckleballs.
• He resides in Paradise Valley…he has 3 boys: Brett, Casey and Clark.

Spanish Radio Play-by-Play

• Is in his 22nd season as the play-by-play voice on D-backs Spanish broadcasts…joined the team in 1999.
• Also covers the D-backs by writing a daily column for El Imparcial, Hermosillo’s daily newspaper, and writes a weekly column for La Estrella de Tucson.
• A 32-year veteran broadcaster for the Mexican Pacific League’s Hermosillo Naranjeros, who won the 2014 Caribbean Series.
• Calls Mexican Pacific League and Caribbean Series games for ESPN Deportes and also provided play-by-play for the inaugural World Baseball Classic in 2006 for the network.
• Finished second in the general balloting for the Mexican Pacific League’s “All-Century Team” and was voted as the best television broadcaster.
• In 2005, received the Carlos Vázquez Award as the best announcer in Sonora.
• Covers basketball, boxing, soccer, tennis and football for Telemax in Sonora and in the winter, hosts the show “Béisbol al Dia,” which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2018.
• Recorded the Spanish-language narration for the MLB video game in 2005.
• He and his wife, Bienvenida, have 3 kids, Paula, Oscar and Nicole.

Spanish Radio Analyst

• Is in his seventh season as the lead analyst for D-backs Spanish radio broadcasts.
• Former right-handed pitcher played for the D-backs in 2010 and led the team in innings pitched (200.0) and starts (33) and tied for first in quality starts (15).
• Played parts of 11 seasons in the Majors with the San Diego Padres (2000), Baltimore Orioles (2002-06), Colorado Rockies (2007), Philadelphia Phillies (2009), D-backs (2010) and Chicago Cubs (2011-12)…went 81-89 with a 4.82 ERA (724 ER in 1,350.2 IP) and 865 strikeouts.
• His 81 career wins rank seventh among Mexican-born pitchers.
• Playing career spanned 23 years beginning in 1993 with Veracruz (Mexican Summer League).
• Was a 3-time Opening Day starter for the Orioles in 2003, '05-06.
• In 2002 with the Orioles, went 15-9 with a 3.57 ERA (78 ER in 196.2 IP) to finish second in AL Rookie of the Year voting, having led AL rookies in wins, ERA, innings and strikeouts (136)…his 15 wins tied for the most ever by a Mexico-born rookie.
• Pitched for Team Mexico in the World Baseball Classic in 2006, ‘09 and ‘13…in 2006, went 0-2 with a 3.86 ERA (3 ER in 7.0 IP) in 2 starts…in 2009, posted a 4.50 ERA (1 ER in 2.0 IP) in 2 games…in 2013, started 1 game and allowed 2 runs in 3.0 innings.
• Played for the Tomateros de Culiacán in the Liga Mexicana del Pacifico (Mexican Pacific Winter Leagues) from 1996-2014…part of 3 championships (1996-97, '01-02, '03-04)…his teams won the Carribean Series title in 2002 (pitched complete-game, victory in final game) and 2013 (pitched 7.2 innings in the final game)…had his number 13 retired in 2018.
• Born in Tlalnepantla, Mexico.
• He and his wife, Romy, have 2 sons, Rodrigo, Jr. and Raymond, and reside in Chandler.

Hispanic Initiatives Advisor & Spanish Radio Analyst

• Is in his 18th season in the D-backs’ radio booth as a fill-in color analyst.
• Works as a consultant to the D-backs after overseeing the organization’s marketing efforts in the Hispanic community from 1996-2008…has played a key role in the D-backs’ exhibition games in Mexico, including the most recent games on March 9-10, 2019 in Monterrey.
• Part of a contingent that met with Mexico President Andrés López Obrador on Feb. 26 ahead of this year's games in Mexico City.
• Has assisted in various roles in all 4 World Baseball Classics (2006, ‘09, ‘13, ‘17).
• Prior to joining the D-backs, spent 18 years with the Arizona Electric Power Cooperative in his native Benson, eventually becoming the company’s Director of Business Development.
• Served 4 years as Mayor of Benson from 1989-93.
• Played baseball for 2 years at Cochise College in Douglas, Ariz., then continued his education and played baseball at Eastern Oregon State University in La Grande, Ore.
• He and his wife, Sheri, reside in Chandler with their son, R.J., and daughter, Katherine…he also has a daughter, Alisha, and 4 grandchildren, Jayden, Kendall, Carson and Elias.
