The Assassination of Gianni Versace has proven to be quite the saga. The series, which has chronicled the murderous rampage of serial killer Andrew Cunanan (the man who ultimately killed fashion mogul Gianni Versace) ends this Wednesday. The show traversed Cunanan's tumultuous upbringing last week, spotlighting his messy relationship with his father, Modesto "Pete" Cunanan, and this week, it ends with Andrew's demise.

An oft-overlooked victim in the case is Versace's partner of around 15 years, Antonio D'Amico, who was left devastated in the wake of his boyfriend's passing. Here's what we know about D'Amico—played by Ricky Martin on the show—and what he's been up to since Versace's untimely death.

Today, D'Amico runs his own fashion label and lives in Northern Italy with his new partner.

The past two decades have been quiet ones for D'Amico, who told the Guardian that he fell into a deep depression following Gianni's murder. He eventually started his own line of sportswear, and told the newspaper that: “Today, I am a different person … the world continues to go around … You can look back at the past until a certain point, [but] then you need to look ahead to the future.” D'Amico's latest venture is an eponymous line of golf clothing.

He was reportedly left $30,000 a month for his lifetime in Versace's will.

However, according to Maureen Orth's Vulgar Favors (the book on which the series is based), Versace's siblings Donatella and Santo offered D'Amico a deal that would give him his payments all at once.

He got his start in the design world at Versace.

While they were together, D'Amico worked for Versace S.p.A., the parent company of Versace. He eventually designed for Versace Sport and Insante. D'Amico's first solo line was released in 1999, and his show was attended by the likes of Elton John.

The couple met in the '80s in Milan.

D'Amico and Versace reportedly met at La Scala, an opera house in Milan, according to People. They eventually moved to Miami–where Versace was killed–in 1992.

D'Amico and Donatella Versace reportedly had a strained relationship.

D'Amico's relationship with Gianni's sister, Donatella, proved less than cooperative, especially following Gianni's death. Donatella told The New York Times in 1999 that "my relationship with Antonio is exactly as it was when Gianni was alive. I respected him as the boyfriend of my brother, but I never liked him as a person."

D'Amico was one of the first to see Gianni after he was shot.

Antonio told The Guardian this past summer that he had been inside the Miami home the two shared when he heard gunshots outside. “The house had stained glass windows so we couldn’t see what had happened from inside, so we had to open the gate. I saw Gianni lying on the steps, with blood around him. At that point, everything went dark. I was pulled away, I didn’t see any more,” he said.

He does not agree with his portrayal on American Crime Story.

D'Amico saw footage of the difficult scene where Ricky Martin, who plays him, finds Gianni murdered on the steps outside their home. "It's ridiculous," he said of the scene to The Guardian. “That is not how I reacted...I felt as if my blood had turned to ice." D'Amico added, "there has been so much written and said about the murder, and thousands of suppositions, but not a trace of reality."

ACS shows D'Amico attempting suicide following Gianni's death, though it is unclear whether or not that actually happened.

D'Amico has been open about his despair following the murder—he told the Guardian that he had been "torn in two" and was living "in a nightmare"—but it is not known whether he tried to take his own life following Gianni's death.
