Antelope Valley College is exactly what you expect from a small-city community college. A developing modern campus with a colorful atmosphere that cuts through the arid, monotone desert around it. I've been to many community colleges, especially in the Los Angeles city area and AVC comes out on top as one of the nicest campuses in the Los Angeles county. As for the professors, they have a strong mix of creative, inspiring instructors and instructors that will pile on the work. Nearly all the instructors feel like they want to genuinely teach you. As for the students, there is a huge range of diversity and potential to make friends of all backgrounds. Although there is a huge amount of social anxiety in some classes, but that could just be a Gen Z problem. A huge problem among students however is the lack of availability for essential classes. Classes as essential as Biology 101, seem to be scarce and quickly fill up, leaving a large amount of students to wait for next term, if at all.
Antelope Valley College is very well put together. The website is super easy to navigate (which is a major plus). It is also super easy to get around campus, as all buildings are clearly marked and have maps in them. As for changes, I would like to see more upgrades/improvements to underfunded programs, like dance and physical education classes that are not competition classes.
