We decided to hike down to the beach and started following the gently sloping track down. Sadly, halfway down, there was a sign saying the track was closed due to falling rocks. So, we abandoned the track and climbed down the steep hill to the beach. This seemed pretty dangerous but we wanted to get down there. In hindsight I wouldn't recommend doing this but we saw someone later do the same thing. We made it safely down but didn't swim as the sea was so rough. Cooled our feet down in some water that was skimming across the beach, and then ate some lunch we had brought with us, using the picnic table provided. We walked back up the same sloping track which luckily had no falling rocks at the time. There is a very, special cliff-face there which is worth examining. There are beautiful views available here.

This is a lovely, small cove near the northern-most tip of Norfolk Island. In fact, the whole (short) drive up the east coast is a total delight. We viewed the bay from the lookout above and didn't go down the steep path to the small beach. While the water looked inviting, had heard it can be a treacherous place to take a dip.

A bit of a walk down and back but you're rewarded with a picturesque beach. We were warned though it's not the safest of areas to swim in so local expert knowledge should be sought.
3 interesting things while there.
The rock formation / barrier on the wateredge.
An old emergency/rescue hut.
What looks like a very old, very heavy ships capstan which we couldn't find any history on.

We stopped here for morning tea on our half day tour. A great picnic spot with full amenities and the view over Anson Bay is stunning. The water colour is divine. You can take a walk down to the beach but we didn't have time.

Anson Bay is a spectacular secluded beach located at the bottom of steep cliffs on Anson Bay Road. The beach is accessible by walking down a steep path which takes approximately 25 minutes. The scenery from the top is gorgeous and well worth the drive to just take in the oceanic views.

Views to die for, and a path going all the way down from the top of the cliff, to a rugged, postcard beach! We took the stroll, 15 minutes each way. It was well worth the effort!

Walking down to Anson Bay is a gentle stroll on a 2 meter wide path that cuts into the cliff face and zigzags all the way down to the bottom. Also the location for the original Telecom Cable that came on to the island, with a small concrete hut the only thing left standing from those days.

Word of warning though, care should be exercised as the surf can be quite rough and young children needs to be supervised at all times.

This is the most beautiful beach and at low tide good snorkeling, but the surf can be rough. The view from above..stunning, but warning getting there is a long winding downhill trail and the return walk is very strenuous and takes awhile. There needs to be more amenities, eg: shade and seating
Would suggest just admiring it from the cliff top

In Norfolk Island terms, its a fair way (perhaps 15 minutes) from the centre of the island (Burnt Pine) all the way to Anson Bay, and I warn you its sealed, but just about the worst road on the island. However, you get to see Puppy's Point on the way, the signal station (just and information board and the buildings from the road edge) as well as many residential houses and spectacular views at the end. There's also an entrance to the National Park.

In your drives around Norfolk island it is definitely worth the effort of getting out of the car and having a good look at spots like this. The scenery and beauty are well worth the small effort. Photographers should visit at a variety of times to make the most of the light.
