Annette Vriends, of Woodstock passed away peacefully on November 3, 2022 at Sakura House. Survived by sisters Bernadette Winslow (Michael) of Dartmouth NS, and Agnes Vriends of London, ON. Brothers Adrian (Camilla) of Saskatoon and Joseph of New Hamburg. Sister-in-law Beth of Strathroy. Predeceased by her parents Peter (1989) and Johanna (2015) Vriends and brother Henry (2021). Also survived by nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and large extended Vriends and Kustermans families in Canada and Holland.

Thank you to the nurses and staff at the Woodstock Hospital Chemo Clinic and the Palliative Care team lead by Dr. Sondi. As well as the staff and volunteers at VON Sakura House. Everyone's compassion and care were felt every step of the journey.

A very special Thank You to sisters Bernadette and Agnes and her friends on the journey, Brandi and Phill Yee, Bruce and Wendy Riffel, David Wilton and the neighbours on Lyndale Crescent.

Visitation will be held at the Smith-LeRoy Funeral Home, Woodstock, ON, on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 between 6 - 8 p.m. As well as Wednesday, November 9, 2022, between 10 - 10:45 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where a memorial mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. A private family interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Annette are asked to consider the Woodstock Hospital Foundation (Chemo Clinic), Operation Sharing, or VON Sakura House. Personal condolences may sent at www.smithleroy.com.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Tree Planting Timeline

Orders placed in:

January - May

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.

June - December

Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
