With a number of movies and TV series that have become hugely popular, Nicholas Galitzine has emerged as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actors over the past few years. The actor, 29, who began his acting career in 2014 with The Beat Beneath My Feet, first caught the interest of viewers when he was cast in the lead role of the 2021 Cinderella flick opposite Camila Cabello. In the musical film, he assumed the role of Prince Robert.
Having starred in Bottoms, Red, White & Royal Blue, and most recently, The Idea of You, he had a busy previous year. In the latter, which was adapted from the same-titled book, he starred as Hayes Campbell alongside Anne Hathaway.
The Purple Hearts star may be a rising star in the film industry now, but before he graced the big screen, he had a “hellish” job that involved taking his clothes off for minimum wage. While some may cringe at the prospect of such a career, Galitzine’s path to acting is both unique and inspiring.
Little-Known Job that Shaped Nicholas Galitzine’s Path to Fame
When we see our favorite actors on screen, it is easy to forget that they did not always live a glamorous lifestyle. Take Nicholas Galitzine, for example. The London-born actor, best known for his roles in films such as Handsome Devil and The Craft: Legacy, began his career in an unconventional way.
Before strutting his stuff on the red carpet, Galitzine was making ends meet by taking off his clothes for minimum wage. That is right! The 29-year-old actor talked about a range of topics during his recent visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live!, including his new film, The Idea of You, and his employment at Abercrombie & Fitch.
What caught us off guard was his response to the host’s question about whether he had ever held a “regular job”. The actor shared:
“Oh, yes, I had a few. I worked at Abercrombie & Fitch..”
Jimmy Kimmel then asked the Cinderella actor inquisitively, “Do you send in a head shot when you apply for the job?” In response, Galitzine talked more about his work at that “hellish” job:
“We had to fold, I mean.. I signed up for just to stand there and pout..no, it’s it’s it’s it’s it’s a hellish place.. I am getting sort of flashback trauma now but they pump the cologne into the atmosphere every four minutes. They do play the same five songs for the entirety of the day and they sometimes they ask you to take your clothes off for minimum wage.”
But he will not “recommend” the job to anyone, he said in closing.
In a nutshell, he said, “No,” when asked if he had learned any life lessons there. To be honest, it is not exactly the kind of job anyone would want on their resume.
Anne Hathaway & Nicholas Galitzine Cast in The Idea of You: What to Expect
Despite appearing in several movies and TV series following his on-screen debut in 2014, Nicholas Galitzine’s breakthrough performance came in 2023 with Red, White & Royal Blue. In this romantic comedy, he brought everything together to deliver an incredible performance.
Having said that, since he started acting, Galitzine has not slowed down, and it appears he intends to keep up his steady pace of work based on his upcoming projects. In the yet-to-be-scheduled romantic comedy The Idea of You, he will co-star with Anne Hathaway.
The film, directed by Michael Showalter and based on Robinne Lee’s romance novel of the same name, follows a middle-aged mother named Sophie (Hathaway) as she takes her daughter to Coachella and eventually develops romantic feelings for a musician named Hayes Campbell (Galitzine). The film, to put it mildly, follows the romance between a popular band lead singer and a single mother.
Not much else is known about the film, but Galitzine should have a chance to showcase his musical prowess.
The Idea of You is scheduled to be released on May 2, 2024, via Prime Video.
