Thursday TV: ‘We Were the Lucky Ones’ - TV EYE

Joey King stars in a miniseries about a Jewish family in Poland trying to reunite after being separated in World War II. “We Were the Lucky Ones” (Hulu, streaming) is based on the novel by Georgia Hunter.

It’s baseball’s opening day in earnest today with all 30 teams in action (except the Mets, who called an early rainout). The one nationally broadcast game is Cubs at Texas (ESPN, 7:35 p.m.). 

The men’s NCAA basketball championship reaches the Sweet 16 with Clemson vs. Arizona (CBS, 7 p.m.), San Diego vs. UConn (TBS, truTV, 7:30 p.m.), Alabama vs. North Carolina (CBS, 9:30 p.m.) and Illinois vs. Iowa State (TBS, truTV, 10 p.m.). 

Canceled on Showtime, the rural Pennsylvania drama “American Rust: Broken Justice” (Prime Video, streaming) moves to a streaming service for its second season. Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney star. 

The new drama “The Baxters” (Prime Video, streaming) concerns a Christian family shattered by an affair. Ali Cobrin, Brandon Hirsch, Roma Downey and Ted McGinley star in the adaptation of the books by Karen Kingsbury. 

The cruise ship disaster winds up on “9-1-1” (ABC, 9 p.m.). 

“Farmer Wants a Wife” (Fox, 9 p.m.) throws a campsite mixer. 

The family airs out the house in the first of two episodes of “Son of a Critch” (CW, 9 p.m.). 

“Station 19” (ABC, 10 p.m.) prepares for the pride parade. 

Meredith and Amelia try to secure funds for their research on “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC, 9 p.m.).

“Next Level Chef” (Fox, 8 p.m.) calls for a Greek entree. 

Marcie fights to help a mother regain custody on “Diggstown” (BET, 10 p.m.). 

“Hudson & Rex” (UPtv, 8 p.m.) investigate a starlet killed while onstage. 

Princess gets bad news about her father just as her fashion show is about to start, on the first of two new episode of “Bold & Bougie” (WEtv, 9 p.m.). 

“Taking the Stand” (A&E, 10 p.m.) has a season finale. 

Debbie Reynolds week continues on Turner Classic Movies with “The Rat Race” (8 p.m.), “Goodbye Charlie” (10 p.m.), “The Pleasure of His Company” (12:15 a.m.), “The Gazebo” (2:30 a.m.) and “It Started with a Kiss” (4:30 a.m.), During the day are the films of English child actor Freddie Bartholomew, with “Listen, Darling” (7 a.m.), “Lord Jeff” (8:30 a.m.), “David Copperfield” (10 a.m.), “Anna Karenina” (12:30 p.m.), “Little Lord Fauntleroy” (2:15 p.m.), “The Devil is a Sissy” (4 p.m.) and “Captains Courageous” (6 p.m.).
