Take a look back at the restaurants of Ann Arbor's past

If you've lived in Ann Arbor for any length of time, you've probably noticed new restaurants opening, and other restaurants - some beloved - closing. The dining scene has always been in flux, and when you take a long view, you can see just how much has changed over the years.

Working in partnership with the Ann Arbor District Library's Old News blog (thank you, Amy Cantu!), we've put together a look back at some of the restaurants of Ann Arbor's past. Some, like The Pretzel Bell, Maude's and The Del Rio have achieved legend status among self-declared Ann Arbor townies.

It's fun to look at photos of atomic age drive-in restaurants and imagine the landscape of Ann Arbor when they existed. Or to look at how some restaurants changed over the decades they served the Ann Arbor public.

We'll keep digging up these vintage restaurant photos, and will work on making this a semi-regular feature. If you've got specific restaurants from your favorite memories that you'd like to see represented, let us know in the comments below. We're still looking for good interior photos of Curtis's Chicken In The Rough.
