Raveena Tandon ruled the 90s and made her place in both mainstream cinema as well as with author-backed performances. The star remains relevant today, having diversified into OTT space as well as in films. On her birthday today, we revisit her dreamy wedding with husband Anil Thadani.

How Raveena met her husband Anil Thadani

It is said that after her break-up with Akshay Kumar, Raveena maintained a low profile. It was in the year 2013 when Raveena also made a career move and turned into a producer. Her first produced movie was Stumped and during the making of the same, Raveen met distributor Anil Thadani.

Anil Thadani’s divorce
Although Anil was married at the time, his marriage with wife Natasha Sippy was going through turmoil. Anil and Natasha had two sons together but they eventually got divorced.

It was reported that Raveena always wanted to get married as a princess. A big fat destination wedding is a trend nowadays, but do you know that Raveena Tandon got married to Anil Thadani at Jag Mandir Palace, Udaipur, Rajasthan on February 22, 2004? The palace, located at the center of the Pichola lake in Udaipur, was a very famous venue for all the high-profile celebrity weddings earlier.

At the wedding, Raveen was made to sit in a 100-year-old doli which also carried the princess of Mewar. Not only this but from designer wear to stunning jewellery, Raveena indeed has a lavish wedding.

Festive offer

Raveena’s wedding attire was also a custom-made one. Delhi-based designer Manav Gangwani recreated Raveena’s mother’s 35-year-old maroon wedding saree into a lehenga embellished with semi-precious stones. It also had embroidery with “pure” gold fibre for a modern look.

Raveena wore a black brocade lehnga for her pre-sangeet dinner, while for her mehndi, Raveena wore a sharara with spaghetti strap choli. Famous make-up artist Cory Walia did Raveena’s make-up and hair for all the wedding functions.

Post her marriage, Raveena took a break from films. While Raveena had previously adopted two girls Pooja and Chhaya as a single mother in 1995, she was blessed with a daughter Rasha, in March 2005 and a son Ranbirvardhan in July 2007.

On each anniversary of hers, Raveena has often shared how her and Anil’s marriage has been full of ‘love and laughter, trust and honesty, equality and companionship, happiness and togetherness through thick and thin’.
