The "[Olympus/London/Angel] Has Fallen" Trilogy is the worst mess i've seen in a long time.

Discussion

Yesterday I watched all three movies back to back, because I had nothing to do and I also love Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman. Im not quite sure what the point of those movies are besides decently scripted fight scenes. There is barely any story, and the plot that exists is absolutely predictable. Im usually all in for a suspension of disbelief, but these movies are ridiculous!

Olympus Has Fallen:

  • How the f*ck did a military cargo ship that far into Washington D.C., or America in General? It should've been shot down much, much earlier.

  • Why were the American soldiers on the ground shooting at a flying armed fortress?

  • Are you telling me that the Korean PM's assistants and guards weren't background-checked beforehand?

  • The threat is big enough for the president to be brought into the bunker, but the guards down there immediately get overwhelmed by a hand full of people? Their weapons should've been locked and loaded. They protect the president but their reflexes are that bad?

  • WHY DID THE MEMBERS OF THE SECRET SERVICE RAN STRAIGHT INTO THE MACHINE GUNS OUTSIDE THE HOUSE? WAVE AFTER WAVE? WITH PISTOLS? DID NO ONE THINK ABOUT FALLING BACK? WERE THEY BLIND?

  • Is the movie supposed to show how great America is? Because all it did was showing how badly prepared they are for an attack on the most important person in the USA.

London Has Fallen:

  • There is absolutely no way that hundreds and hundreds of terrorists managed to infiltrate such an amount of police forces, royal guards, special forces and secret services. Yes, they planned it for a long time - but excuse me, there is still no way. Maybe they would be able to infiltrate one group with a handful of people, but definitely not all of them with so many people.

  • Obligatory "How were they able to pull this huge plan off with many years of preperation but one Gerard Butler takes the whole construct down?" A construct that falls apart due to one man shouldn't have come this far in the first place.

  • How did they know that all those leaders would be exact at those locations when they killed them? The Japanese PM was on the bridge and the Italian PM was on the top of St. Margaret's Church.

  • Why the hell does Gerard Butler hold a speech about the greatness of America while beating up a guy, when he is in London right now? America wasn't attacked, London was. Yes, the American president was under attack, but it's still a very weird comment to make.

  • The first action of the American VP at the end is to call a drone strike on the man behind all of this stuff in London? Why is it America's duty to do this? London was utterly destroyed, but they have to take away the English's chance of revenge?

Angel Has Fallen:

  • Good job secret service. If the president wants to go fishing in the wilderness, you better check all of the surroundings next time. Haven't you learned from movie 1 and 2 that preparation and caution is everything? No? Then it happens again.

  • Oh no, the hero has to fight against his own side after being betrayed by someone.

  • Oh what a wonder, he manages to outplay and outwit all of the special forces, police units and so on. Great job of showing how incompetent America is - once again*.*

  • Obligatory reunion with the hillbilly father who left the family. OH, the father says it was for his son's sake! OH, he was extremely prepared for a special forces onslaught! OH, he saves his son's wife and kid and redeems himself! Who could've thought of that?

  • Did they really sacrifice 4 soldiers to mislead the enemy forces? Wouldn't it have been smarter to stay exactly where the president is? Or atleast close to that? By playing the long game, they would've had enough time to stall until the back up arrives.

  • OH, A ROOFTOP FIGHT SCENE 1 ON 1! FORMER FRIENDS! THE BETRAYED HERO VERSUS THE BETRAYER!

Let me introduce you to one amazing world:

FICTION

It's used to portray something in an exagerated way for entertainment purposes so it doesn't have to be realistic in any way

Joking aside tho, not every movie needs a super deep sotry or super profound character development, some movies where things explode or get shot just because they are there and as an excuse to devour a bowl of popcorn are fine to have

This movies are fine, just not what you would watch if you want something akin to any irl situation or common sense, if common sense was a thing in movies, most would last like 20 minutes

If action is not your thing then you shouldn't even try. I love these movies tho

Out of the three I actually enjoyed London Has Fallen, it’s just a fun dumb action movie. Angel Has Fallen was probably the stupidest one.. I couldn’t stand Jada Pinkett’s character.

You should try out Andy Sidaris' series Bullets, Bombs, and Babes

Cinemasins ass post

It's not supposed to be high cinema. It's just silly fun. For quick, easy, consumption.
