STANFORD, Calif. — Legendary Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck has been selected as a member of the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Hall of Fame Class, as announced on Monday morning.

Luck becomes the first Stanford Cardinal to be inducted into the Academic All-America Hall of Fame, and he joins his father Oliver Luck, who was inducted in 2000. The two become the first father-son duo inducted.

His on the field career is one of the best in Stanford history. Luck helped lead the Stanford football program back into the national spotlight with 23 wins over his final two seasons, including appearances in the 2011 Orange Bowl and the 2012 Fiesta Bowl. He won the 2011 Maxwell, Walter Camp and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm awards and was a two-time runner up for the Heisman Trophy.

"We couldn't be more excited to congratulate Andrew on his induction into the CSC Academic All-America Hall of Fame," said The Jaquish & Kenninger Director of Athletics Bernard Muir. "He was the epitome of what it means to be a student-athlete. There are few people who embody the Stanford way more than Andrew, and earning this recognition is further proof. We are thrilled for Andrew and the Luck family on now having two generations in the Academic All-America Hall of Fame."

There aren't many offensive records at Stanford that Luck did not rewrite during his time on The Farm. A two-time conference Offensive Player of the Year, Luck passed for 9,430 yards and 82 touchdowns in his career, adding 957 yards and seven more touchdowns on the ground. He is the program's all-time leader in touchdown passes and passing efficiency, while owning two of the top-four passing seasons in school history: 3,517 yards in 2011 and 3,338 yards in 2010.

His .670 career completion percentage is the best in Stanford annals, as are his single-season completion percentages in 2010 (.707) and 2011 (.713). His 37 touchdown passes in 2011 are a single-season school record, followed by his 32 touchdown passes in 2010. Luck presided over three of the most prolific offensive teams in Stanford history, helping the Cardinal to scoring records in 2009 (461), 2010 (524) and 2011 (561).

Off the field, Luck excelled in the classroom and was named the 2011 Academic All-American of the Year, the second-ever Cardinal to win the award. He was also a three-time First Team Academic All-Pac-12 honoree and a member of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society.

Following his Stanford career, Luck was the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, spending seven years with the Indianapolis Colts. From 2012-18, Luck was one of the most exciting players in the league, earning four Pro Bowl nods while being named the 2018 Comeback Player of the Year. He set the NFL rookie record for passing yards in 2012 and amassed 23,671 yards and 171 touchdowns in his career.

Luck is involved with several philanthropic pursuits, including Riley Children's Foundation and the Andrew Luck Book Club. He also was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2022 and the Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023.

The class of 2024 also includes:

  • James Clear — A former starting pitcher at Denison University who became a New York Times best-selling author and keynote speaker for Fortune 500 companies. His book "Atomic Habits" has sold 15 million copies worldwide.
  • Steve Harter — An acclaimed offensive lineman and wrestler at the University of Mount Union who went on to help create over 25 companies at Notre Capital Ventures that have generated more than seven billion dollars in revenue.
  • Stacy Lewis — A four-time All-American and individual NCAA national champion golfer at the University of Arkansas who has gone on to compete and win major championships on the LPGA Tour.

"The 2024 Academic All-America Hall of Fame class once again celebrates all that is good about college sports," said CSC Executive Director Erik Christianson. "These outstanding individuals have extended the excellence they displayed in competition and in the classroom during college into outstanding lives of service to others. We look forward to celebrating with and honoring them at our convention in June."

Created in 1988, the Academic All-America Hall of Fame recognizes former Academic All-Americans who received a college degree at least 10 years ago, have achieved lifetime success in their professional careers, and are committed to philanthropic causes. Honorees are chosen each year by a select committee of CSC members, leaders and past Academic All-America Hall of Fame inductees.

"We are thrilled to induct these four remarkable individuals as the Academic All-America Hall of Fame Class of 2024," said CSC Academic All-America Hall of Fame Committee Chair and UIC Senior Associate AD for External Operations Chris Masters. "Each of them is a shining example of what makes the Academic All-America program special — excellence in the classroom, greatness in competition and a truly generous and giving spirit in the community. Our committee is proud to welcome this year's Academic All-America Hall of Fame class and we invite all CSC members to join us for this year's enshrinement ceremony during #CSCUnite24 in Las Vegas!"

The four inductees into the CSC Academic All-America Hall of Fame will be honored during the All-Star Night of Honors presented by ESPN on June 10, 2024, in conjunction with the #CSCUNITE24 annual convention at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. ESPN reporter and 2019 Jake Wade Award winner Holly Rowe will host the event. Those without a #CSCUnite24 convention badge may purchase tickets to the event at CollegeSportsCommunicators.com/tickets.
