Fleur W. Fiscella
Fleur W. Fiscella, a long-time Montgomery County resident died July 11, 2022 at her home in Silver Spring, Maryland. Fleur was born on June 30, 1933 in Ithaca,New York to Ludolph Frisch Welanetz and Estrella Cuervo Welanetz and grew up in upstate New York, Annapolis and Bethesda, Maryland and Long Island, NY. She obtained a Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education from Hofstra University.
In 1957 she married John P. Fiscella, a teacher and coach who later became a labor relations expert and settled in Hempstead, New York. They relocated to the Washington area in 1971 with their two children. Known for her calm, quiet demeanor, Fleur was a teacher and instructional aid but took a hiatus when she adopted her two children and returned to teaching after her eldest child graduated from high school. She was an active member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
Fleur primarily dedicated her life to raising her two children but loved ceramics and spent a good deal of her adult life making porcelain creations for friends and family. She and her husband were active in local politics, supporting campaigns for Montgomery County Council and School Board candidates. She was also an avid tennis player.
Ms. Fiscella is survived by her son, Andrew Fiscella of Los Angeles, California and Cincinnati, Ohio, her daughter Jennifer Fiscella of West Virginia, her five grandchildren and her brother, Ludolph C. Welanetz of North Potomac, Maryland.

I want to express my condolences to the Family and Friends of Mrs. Fleur W. Fiscella. May The Hearer of Prayer be with you in your hour of need. While it is so hard to deal with the loss of a loved one, you can take comfort in knowing God is always there for you.
