The NFL today is almost like a different game compared to the way it was played back in the day. The players were often bloody and muddy, the quarterbacks weren’t treated like fragile primadonnas, and the logos and lore were legendary. If you are nostalgic for the Gridiron greatness of the past, this sub is for you.

Two time Come-Back Player of the Year, Garrison Hearst
He was a beast on the 49ers when they weren't that good.
Roy Jefferson is a good one
Biggest HOF snub IMO
He and Roger Craig.
TIL Roger Craig is not in the HOF. How in the hell is he not considered a HOF?
My father and I talk about this often. We have NO CLUE why Craig isn’t in the HOF and it will piss both of us to our graves. Every football fan I talk to is shocked he isn’t in.
He was the original marshal Faulk. He had two seasons of 1000 yards receiving and 1000 yards rushing.
Some people say he hasn’t gotten in because he fumbled in the 91 NFC title game vs the Giants. 49ers were on their way to a three peat. The media blamed him. He got overshadowed by all the legends on that 49er dynasty. It’s a damn shame.
Washington fan, RJ should be in but Jim Marshall is the biggest snub atm.
Agreed. Bears fan here, Andy Russell should be in. A great linebacker on a great team.
JT
Matt Suhey - Da Bears
Noah Jackson. Couldn't pass block to save his life, but he was an amazing running game OL for Sweetness.
My childhood memories are filled with announcer play by play like this "Deuce backfield. Quick pitch to Walter, he's hit, breaks the tackle, has two men on him ... and he breaks free... stiff arms the defender... and is finally brought down. 17 yard gain .... but there's a flag... They're going to call Jackson for holding."
Still one of my favorite Bears in spite of it all. Revie Sorey was also solid.
Tom Rathman
Dude was a Brahma bull!! I'd see him intentionally run into linebackers because he liked to knock them on their ass.
Today we say this person is a running back or this person is a TE. He was a football player. Put him anywhere on the field and he could play the game.
Eric Davis
Tony Hill wr 77'-87'
He's 5th in Cowboys all-purpose yardage and went to 3 Pro Bowls
He was Drew Pearson's back up early on and was the #1 receiver when Pearson retired, but he was in that period between the Staubach teams and the Aikman teams, and no one ever mentions him
Stan Humphries - Chargers SB QB
Joey Browner
Didn’t he go to prison?
No, you’re confusing him for Darren Sharper. He is in prison.
Joey Browner was a beast.
Wilber Marshall " Washington "
And Chicago. People forget how good he was.
Hell yeah bro, He was a Beast
Freddie Solomon.
Lester Hayes
Stump Mitchell
Jim Jeffcoat
Amani Toomer. Giants all time leader in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Never even made a pro bowl. Crazy.
"It's not a Toomer"
Otis Taylor
Nate Odomes was an integral part of the Bills Super Bowl run
Daryl Talley!! Playing LB behind Bruuuuccccccce!!
Larry Csonka Miami Dolphins fullback called for roughing the defense
Steve Foley - Broncos CB / Free Safety from 1976-1986. 44 INTs is no joke.
Drafted from Tulane as a QB. An odd journey to a career but a very good one. Ring of Fame thoughts, Bronco fans?
Joe Washington
Jon Kitna for the Seachickens, made it deep into the playoffs. Shaun Alexander years...
One of the best quarterbacks, the Lions ever had.
Eddie George certainly has led an interesting life, not considering the NFL
Sounds like a squared away human, yay EG!
Tim Bowens
George Martin....Giants DE. Not the music producer. Played a dozen years, many on poor defenses. Hung in there to be on a Super Bowl Champion, while still starting. A very great player...
Not my team, but living in Miami in the late ‘60s I came to admire Howard Twilley. A small, slow WR. Every year they brought in the guy who was meant to replace him and every year he won the job back. He scored the first Dolphin SB TD.
Mike Curtis from Baltimore Colts.
Great one. Also one of my favorites.
Vance McDonald in Pittsburgh was lit
Gary Brackett
facemask so close he can lick it.
Joe Nash
Ahmad BROOKS / NINERS on the superbowl run
Carnell Lake/Darren Perry
Was the glue of those defenses even though there were legit stars around them
Charlie Garner
Herman Moore
Keith Byars.
Cory Schlesinger. When the fullback is your run game and pass receiving game then he’s really good and the team is really bad. Go Lions!!!
A Browns fan,Bernie Parrish,Leroy Kelly,Brian Brennan and,of course Brian Sipe
Cowboy DE Harvey Martin. Superbowl MVP. NFL Defensive Player of Year. Four time Pro Bowler. Had 23 sacks in a season before sacks were a recorded stat. He had a drug problem he overcame. A Hall of Fame snub.
Chris Warren
Sean Alexander
Fred Young
During Harmon
Lyle Alzsdo
Andre Tippett or Stanley Morgan of the New England Patriots.
Corey Schlesinger fullback
Lions
Great safety!
Jerry Smith and Brian Mitchell. Both should be in the HOF.
John "Frenchy" Fuqua, RB, Steelers 1970-76.
Set the team's single-game rushing record of 218 yards in 1970 that wouldn't be broken until 2006. He was part of the "Immaculate Reception" play in 1972. But probably best remembered as the team's flashiest dresser, especially with his platform shoes with the clear soles containing tropical fish from his aquarium.
Lance Briggs
Not my team, but the Vikings had Chuck Foreman and later Ted Brown who were great pass catching running backs
Neal Anderson - Bears 🐻
Lavvie Dilweg, Verne Llewellyn.
