I don't think anyone's going to argue against the fact that this is easily Neil's worst release in his classic '70s run. But in the case of American Stars 'n Bars, 'worst' doesn't necessarily mean 'bad'.

Considered a dip in Neil's discography and that is hard to dispute considering what had come before but this is still a fabulous record and contains one of his greatest songs.
Essential Track - Like a Hurricaine
I love artists like Neil Young because I don't know his discography as well as I would like and I keep discovering real gems of songs in its nooks and crannies that are shockingly good to me every time.
"Will to Love" it's amazing
Wasn't expecting much out of this but there are honestly several great tracks here. Country-rock bangers like Hold Back the Tears and Saddle Up Palomino are super fun even if they lack much depth. The real star of this record though is Like a Hurricane which absolutely rips- I was NOT expecting that. Easy to miss but def worth a good listen
