Born in England, raised in Canada and dubbed the Grand Empress of Sci-fi by her legion of loyal fans, Amanda has earned a reputation as a highly sought after Director in the industry across both television and film. She is also one of the most recognized actors working in television today.
She was honoured by the Directors Guild of Canada, B.C. in March 2019, and named as ACTRA's Woman of the Year in 2015 and was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Direction in a Drama Series (Anne with an E).

Amanda is, of course, best known for her role as Samantha Carter on the Science Fiction television series "Stargate SG-1" (1997 - 2007) & "Stargate Atlantis" (2007 - 2008). After Stargate, Amanda thrilled fans worldwide with her role of Dr Helen Magnus on the Syfy television series "Sanctuary" and as Naomi in the TV series "Supernatural".  Over more recent years she has played lead roles in several films, including "Taken Back","Random Acts of Romance" and "Space Milkshake". She has guest starred on the popular Canadian comedy show "Package Deal" the Syfy series "Killjoys" and latterly in the hit Netflix TV series "Travelers".


Having been Executive Producer on "Sanctuary "and directing episodes of "Stargate SG-1" and "Sanctuary" Amanda went on to direct "Primeval New World", "Arctic Air," "Continuum", "Olympus", "Strange Empire" a music video for Ta'Kaiya Blaney, "Dark Matter", Hallmark's "A Family for Christmas", "X-Company", "The Magicians", "Van Helsing", "Romeo Section", "Anne the Series", "Siren", "Supernatural", "Travelers" and in 2019, the NBC show,"Blindspot" and "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" among others. Amanda has latterl been treading in the DC Comics universe having finished directing on the Flash and directed on Batwoman.
Amanda ejoined the cast and crew of the Freeform TV series Motherland:Fort Salem as Executive Producer/Director. (August 2020) and again in December 2021 to May 2022.
In January 2023 she started work directing on the HBOMax/Warner Bros series, Dead Boy Detectives.


Amanda's Charitable Foundation "Sanctuary for kids", which closed its doors at the end of 2018, successfully raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for causes both worldwide and locally in Vancouver. She supports many charitable causes, and for nearly 20 years held her own charity fundraising event with Gabit Events (UK) every eighteen months to raise money with her fans for causes close to her heart.

She resides in Vancouver, British Columbia with her husband, daughter and dog Riley.
