Singer, songwriter, and producer Amanda Perez is best known for heartfelt early-2000s R&B singles like “Angel” and “Never.”
• Perez was discovered by a talent scout in her hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Signed to the indie label Powerhouse and released her debut album, Where You At?, in 2002.
• Written and produced by Perez herself, the album caught the attention of major labels. Virgin reissued the album with a new track listing under the title Angel in 2003, introducing Perez’s rap-tinged R&B sound to a wider audience. The single “Angel” reached No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 3 on the Mainstream Top 40 Airplay chart.
• The singer has since released three more albums: I Pray (2004), The Hand of Fate (2007), and Unexpected (2013).
