Amadou Onana exit on table at Everton in Barcelona transfer news

Amadou Onana exit on table at Everton as Barcelona ‘number one objective’ emerges

Barcelona have made signing a new centre-midfielder their priority this summer, with a deal for Everton star Amadou Onana on the table, according to Sport.

The Spanish news outlet reported via their website on 27 April that Deco, the director of football at Barcelona, is considering bringing in a more physical player, with Onana named among the targets.

However, cheaper options have also been named after previous reports claimed the Toffees would hold out for around £50million for the Belgian this summer.

Amadou Onana to quit Everton?

Barcelona’s interest in the Belgian was confirmed by Joan Laporta recently as he confessed he was a “very good” player and one the club would like to sign – although he, like the report, claimed there were several options on their radar.

However, Barcelona are not the only club to have registered their interest in the midfielder, with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal monitoring ahead of a potential transfer move after the Premier League season comes to a close.

It looks fairly likely that Everton will have to sell some of their star players in the summer given the financial situation the club has found itself in. Onana, given his reputation and price tag, could be one of those players.

Everton Sean Dyche
Two points deductions have seen Sean Dyche’s Everton side dragged into a relegation battle.

With their Premier League survival now secured, attention could move to the summer and the transfer window with outgoing moves more likely at this stage, with that money available to reinvest into strengthening the squad.
