NBA star Alonzo Mourning to divorce wife after 22 years of marriage

Former NBA All-Star and Miami society fixture Alonzo Mourning is getting divorced from wife Tracy after 22 years of marriage, Page Six has learned.

Sources say the pair — who have three children together — quietly separated a couple of months ago and are now planning to file for divorce.

We’re told it’s quite a topic of conversation around the Heat offices, where the team’s former star center now works in player development.

It’s unclear what led to the breakup of the marriage, but it appears to be cordial. Alonzo’s official Instagram account posted about Tracy’s charity work at the end of January.

Somewhat awkwardly, given the split, they opened a school in North Miami named after themselves in 2009 — the Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Senior High Biscayne Bay Campus. No word on who will keep it in the divorce.

We’re told Alonzo and Tracy are well-respected in the city, and that they’re both heavily involved in charity work.

The former couple are also close with Barack and Michelle Obama, with the president naming Alonzo to his council on fitness while he was in the White House, and the former first lady picking a dress from Tracy’s clothing line for a holiday gift guide in People last year.

They don’t appear to have been photographed together in public since New Year’s Eve 2017.

The pair have been together since the beginning of Alonzo’s pro career with the Charlotte Hornets, and they married in 1997 in Anguilla.

Seven-time All-Star Alonzo won an NBA Championship with the Heat in 2006. In 2009, he became the first Heat player to have his number, 33, retired by the team.
