All-State softball features SE Iowa athletes

The Iowa Girls Coaches Association released its All-State list for the sport of softball on Thursday. The Union area had seven names make the list, four of which were on the first teams.

In Class 4A, Fairfield’s Hannah Simpson and Washington’s Kellie Dallmeyer both made the first-team list.

Simpson showed off her power this year at the plate, finishing the year hitting .458 with 15 doubles, two triples, nine homers and 64 RBIs.

Dallmeyer knocked the ball around all year, hitting .529 with 15 doubles, four triples, eight home runs and 17 stolen bases.

Winfield-Mount Union’s Madie Anderson was a first-teamer in Class 1A. She let her arm do most of the talking, throwing every pitch of the year for the Wolves and going 17-6 with a 0.58 ERA and 305 strikeouts.

Fairfield’s Coty Engle was a second-team All-Stater, making it two Trojans on the Class 4A list. Engle led the Trojans with a .518 batting average and finished the year with 13 doubles, two triples and 22 RBIs. In the pitching circle, she went 17-6 with

In Class 2A, Van Buren County’s Chelsey Huff made the second team list. She had a great year at the plate, hitting .506 with 16 doubles, five homers and 36 RBIs, and dominated in the pitcher’s circle, going 14-5 with a 1.16 ERA and 165 strikeouts.

Van Buren County’s Isabel Manning was on the Class 2A third team. Highland’s Abbi Stransky made the Class 1A third team, and teammate Sarah Burton was on the Class 1A honorable mention list.
