Low-key 'mats still got all the class!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 February 2017Verified Purchase
What can I say?! The 'mats never failed to deliver. These two last albums definately divided die hard Replacements fans, with their more folky sound - some would even call it country-ish at times. To me, the more low key productions add some clarity to Westerbergs fantastic compositions, which is a nice addition in stead of the rockier sounds of 80's Replacements. At the end of the day, I would recommend any of their albums, because this is one of the best bands of all time. And this one is as packed with catchy tunes as the rest of their fabulous discography.
Check out the first three tracks, and you will definately want to hear the rest of the album as well...

the replacements album replacements fans didn't lkike
Reviewed in the United States on 21 January 2009Verified Purchase
the replacements album that replacements fans weren't thrilled about is my personel favorite (and I had been a fan for years,in fact, when I was putting a band together several years before, while advertising for a guitarist,I requested that anyone auditioning should have a rolling stones mind and a replacements heart.) All Shook Down probably has a sentimental value to me,but I dunno,I think Westerberg's song writing on trhe record had finally hit a real apex,a real roll, one that he would carry over into his solo work.(Another complaint from replacements fans was that it was really a Paul Westerberg solo album. I saw them twice during the All Shook Down tour. Once at the Beacon in nyc and at Madison Square Garden where they opened for Elvis Costello and believe me,they sounded like THE Replacements (only not a drunken mess.)

Great record, crappy vinyl product.
Reviewed in the United States on 19 July 2016Verified Purchase
I really love this record. Its understated and has lots of great weepers and songs about judgment. It's better than DTAS and PTMM in my opinion. Everything sounds tossed off and well crafted at the same time. I do hate the single When It Began though. Its crap.
While I am happy to get the thing on vinyl, I am slightly miffed that Sire was too cheap to put in a download code. What a bunch of jerks.

Once rated "the last real rock 'n' roll band" by Rolling Stone, they'd evolved out of the alternative movement of the latter 80's! This last release of their's was the culmination of the finest they had to offer during the grunge of the early 90's movement! So, their finale seemed retro for the era & was overlooked by many rockers! They deserve a seven star rating for this no gimmicks, raw rock! Enjoy! Thanx!
