What makes all-inclusive holidays so great? The price, for a start. Whether you're looking for a cheap family break in the sun, a romantic getaway for two, or a fun week with a group of friends, you’ll find a deal to match your budget. And, because you don't need to plan a daily spend for things such as ice creams for the kids – it’s all included after all – it’s easy to stick to that budget, too.

But perhaps the best thing about all-inclusive holidays is getting the chance to truly relax and unwind. Everything is taken care of at your resort, from a huge variety of activities, games and sports to your meals, snacks and those all-important cocktails by the pool. What’s not to love?

So, if you’re looking for a hassle-free, great-value holiday that’s filled with memorable moments, consider going all-inclusive in 2024.

When you tot up the separate costs of everything you get, all-inclusive holidays can be amazing value for money – especially if you just want to relax by the pool and make the most of your resort’s offerings. Plus, as most things are taken care of before you fly, you’ll know the bulk of your holiday costs upfront.

However, if you prefer to get out and about to explore your destination or try local restaurants and bars, all-inclusive might not be for you.

Travelling with children? All-inclusive family holidays are especially easy. Besides the factored-in costs, all-inclusive breaks are ideal for those who like routine. Knowing that dinner is served at a time that suits, for example, can make a big difference to routine-loving children.

You also won’t need to worry about splitting the dinner bill with friends (there is no bill!) or think about exchanging and carrying lots of foreign currency.

All-inclusive holiday FAQs

How far in advance should I book an all-inclusive break?

If you need to travel during peak holiday times, booking your all-inclusive holiday as early as possible means you can take advantage of early discounts, such as room upgrades, free child places or free additional nights. Booking early means you’ll also have your choice of rooms and resorts.

Stick to the shoulder or off-seasons and you may be able to score a great last-minute deal, as holiday operators try to fill any remaining spaces. Signing up to travel newsletters will help you be among the first to find the bargains.

Are there all-inclusive holidays with free child places?

Yes, there are plenty of all-inclusive holidays with free child places available. To stand the best chance of finding them, look for dedicated ‘free child place finders’ on your holiday provider’s website.

What's the difference between all-inclusive and full board?

All-inclusive holidays generally include three meals a day, plus snacks, soft drinks and some alcoholic drinks. Full board holidays only include your meals. What’s included can vary between resorts, so remember to ask before you book.

What is all-inclusive plus?

Some holiday operators offer all-inclusive plus holidays, which usually means premium alcoholic drinks are included in addition to your meals, snacks and other beverages. At some resorts, you may also get other perks, such as treats from your minibar, additional dining options, 24-hour room service or free activities. Check before you book.

Is the minibar free?

The minibar is often free and restocked daily on an all-inclusive holiday, but it can vary by resort. Be sure to ask at check-in to avoid an unexpected bill at the end of your stay!

Will I have to pay for extras?

All-inclusive holidays include most activities and food at your resort. However, you usually need to pay for things such as spa treatments, premium alcohol and food options, and off-site tours and excursions. Watersports are generally included but some resorts may charge a fee for motorised activities.

Should I bring any money with me?

Although most of your holiday costs are covered upfront on an all-inclusive holiday – and any extras will be charged to your debit or credit card – we recommend bringing a little cash with you. It can come in handy if you decide to leave the resort on a day trip or want to buy some souvenirs. And while tips are included on most all-inclusive package holidays, you may want to tip for exceptional service.
