Alex Brown, Former Chiefs Defensive Back, Sentenced To Four Months In Prison - Athlon Sports Skip to main content

Alex Brown, a former NFL defensive back who won a Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs, has been sentenced to four months in prison, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

Brown's sentence comes after he was charged with operating a vehicle with a high blood-alcohol content in a 2021 car crash that injured former Lions teammate Charlie Taumoepeau.

Per Birkett, Brown also received two years of probation. He had two counts of reckless driving causing serious impairment and one count of operating under the influence causing serious injury dismissed.

Brown was arrested in the early morning hours of Aug. 15, 2021 after he was driving the wrong way on I-75 in Detroit. His vehicle struck another head-on, causing injury to the other driver.

Brown registered a .211 blood alcohol content, more than two-and-a-half times the legal limit. Taumoepeau, who was riding in the passenger seat, had to be removed from the vehicle via the jaws of life and transported to a hospital.

Brown, who was on the Lions' training camp roster at the time, was cut shortly after the incident.

Brown played in three games for the Chiefs in 2019. That represented his only NFL game action. He has not signed with a new team since his arrest.
