Nesta believes Milan ‘collapsed mentally’ vs. Chelsea and must learn key lesson

Former defender Alessandro Nesta has accused AC Milan of collapsing mentally after they conceded the second goal against Chelsea last night.

The first goal for the home side was a tough one to take as a corner was not properly cleared and the ball rattled around inside the box before sitting there for Wesley Fofana to stroke home from close range.

Chelsea doubled their advantage when Reece James was given the freedom of west London to cross from the right flank and he found Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for an easy finish, then James again had acres of space to smack home a third.

Nesta was working on the game for Prime Video, and he commented on the Rossoneri’s performance at Stamford Bridge which certainly makes their path to qualifying a bit more difficult.

“After the second goal, a bad goal for me, an avoidable goal, there they collapsed mentally and the difference was mental instead of technical. Milan must learn to manage these matches in a better way,” he said (via MilanNews).

“Pioli doesn’t look for excuses, but with five changes the substitutions make the difference. If there are five players missing from Milan it is not as if they are missing from another team. When you play at this level you must always have a level 11.”

    1. LOL. Not Giroud’s fault that the other 10 players created nothing. Even Haaland wouldn’t have made any difference as Milan never created anything excluding the CDK & Krunic shots.

The real problem isn’t the striker(s).
