I liked the family aspect of living here. I wished there were more growth opportunities available and crime rates were lower.
Had to visit Albany GA on business.
Stayed at the Hilton Garden Hotel across the street from the Grille House, a bar with extremely loud amplified rock/rap music until the bars in Albany close at 2:30 am! Hotel does nothing. Staff know it has been a long standing problem. Two guests and I called Albany Police Dept who did nothing.
I checked out at 12:30 am and moved to another hotel outside Albany.
I do not recommend staying in Albany.

I have Lived in Albany for over 11 years. Since moving here, I noticed a upbringing of crime and poverty. Everywhere you go in the city, there is homeless people walking everywhere. Whether its the store or even around the corner from your own house. No matter where in the city of Albany, Homelessness follows. The school system of Albany, is far from the best that a school education system could be. With only four middle schools, and three high schools, majority of the schools are filled above the recommended capacity of students that are in these schools.
Albany is a boring place . This place has some opportunities but very few . The town can be very dangerous at times.
Unless you like cats running around your yard and stray dogs, this isn’t the place for you. In 2017, the City complained of feral cats but the residents promote it. Feeding them, breeding them, keeping them like pets. There is a leash law for dogs but they don’t abide by it. And it’s not in the rough area residents that’s doing it but the nice area residents. They know the city isn’t focused on them so they do whatever they want. It’s like a freakin zoo. Big dogs, little dogs. Black cats, striped cats. Pooping and peeing everywhere. You pay taxes but you get no services. I’m not doc Doolittle. I told my relatives who wanted to come stay away. Go where it’s nicer. Columbus, Macon. Where you get what you pay for.
Albany is a very dangerous city to live in sometimes. There are constantly people dying because of random arguments that aren't serious enough to where you have to involve guns. I have lived here for a large portion of my life but sometimes wish I hadn't.
Albany as a city is okay, not much to do around here but the parties are fun, so is the school and the mall.
Albany Georgia is a small city in Western Georgia that I live in. Like every city it has its good side, (The North SIde) and the bad side (everywhere else). I happen to live on the bad side of Albany, the East side whilist I go to school on the South side. The city has its charm however, and I enjoy the major events such as the Albany State University homecoming. One thing I'd like to see change in Albany is the crime rate. Albany is one of the most dangerous cities in the state of Georgia, and I'd like this city to not be on that list.
It is a small city that has various jobs and fun activities for everyone to do. Good, but limited food and shopping places, but everything you may need is right here in the city.
Albany has a plethora of restaurants to try and stores that you cannot access nearby. There is an issue with safety as there tends to be a great number of shootings and sounds of guns firing. There are great options for healthcare and doctors of color to utilize for both adults and children. I attend the Second Mt Zion Baptist church and this is one of the greatest treasures Albany has. We conduct food drives, vaccine drives, collaborate with other churches to create the Albany Coalition of Churches, and we love and support one another. There are options to join Choirs, to participate in park activities and to try many different types of cuisine. There are great options for shopping. While we don’t have a Kroger, we do have target, Publix, Walmart (where you can get the cheapest gas) and the housing market for rent and buy isn’t as high as other places. The people here are kind and willing to help in most cases. If someone where to come here I would recommend that they try local shops.
Albany is not a horrible place to stay, however, it is not very inclusive for younger occupants. There are little to no attractions making Albany a better place for those in retirement.
Although pretty affordable it is not a great place to live. There is not a lot of diversity and places to shop, nor eat. It still seems pretty segregated. This is a good ole boy system. If you didn’t grow up here forget it.
I like Albany because this city has history. This city has motivation to be better. I like this city because there are plenty of things to do. It might not be what everybody want but there are multiple fun activities. One thing I would change about this city is better neighborhoods. The city needs to put people in better situations so they can become better.
I believe that Albany is a great city and is improving tremendously. The city of Albany is rebuilding and making many changes to become more family friendly, Affordable, and Safe. I love the city of Albany and can’t wait to see what the future of this city has in store.
The cost of living is great. Not much traffic on a day to day basis. It takes no longer than 15 minutes to get from one side of town to the next.
I have lived in Albany my entire life. The ONLY perk to the town is that the cost of living is very low. But there is a reason for that. Everything for entertainment, such as the zoo, aquarium and parks have all gone to crap. The education system is terrible. The crime rate & gang violence is so high, seems like there is a homicide every week. The sewage system is prehistoric, good customer service is non existent, decent paying jobs are very hard to find and the local government has not a care in the world. If it were not for all of my family living in Albany, I would be long gone.
I lived here for 18 years(all of my life really). With a population of 68 thousand it’s kinda easy to know who is who around here. We have good sports, education, people and little things you can do here and there. Me personally I kinda get bored honestly living here. Since I’m young and always looking for something new to discover here, you’d get bored in my opinion.
