    Al Michaels is the voice behind some of the most legendary sports moments in history. Michaels has seen it all and done it all -- except for one thing.

    Al Michaels is one of the most notorious and successful broadcasters in TV history, regardless of the genre. Michaels is the voice front and center during some of the most memorable moments in sports history. Over the years, Michaels has been a member of many famous duos, but he has remained the constant on several networks.

    Michaels recently took part in an interview with CNN’s Chris Wallace and opened up about many parts of his life, including one particular fact about his diet — but one that any kid would be proud of.

    What Did Al Michaels Reveal?

    The Hall of Fame broadcaster admitted to Chris Wallace and the world that he has never knowingly eaten a vegetable. Strange, but true.

    Michaels explained that he was the son of an 18-year-old mother who was a relaxed parent. Michaels’ mother offered vegetables to him growing up, and he turned them away with no repercussions.

    Michaels’ Growing Pains

    Michaels grew up a Dodgers fan, growing up in Brooklyn, NY. As a sports fan, you would think Michaels’ heart would have broken when the Dodgers left Brooklyn. But Michaels made due when his family moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles the same year the Dodgers left Brooklyn.

    Following high school, Michaels attended Arizona State University. The Sun Devil studied radio and television and minored in journalism. Michaels covered the Sun Devils’ local sports teams during their football, baseball, and basketball seasons, covering them as a broadcaster and a writer.

    Michaels’ Beginning in Show Business

    Michaels cut his teeth in show business while working for the TV show ‘The Dating Game’ –Michaels was in charge of selecting the female contestants for the show, which is a far cry from his illustrious career.

    Michaels entered the sports broadcasting arena at the side of legendary Lakers commentator Chick Hearn. Unfortunately for the aspiring broadcaster, Hearn didn’t like being paired with someone as young as Michaels and fired him four games into his Lakers gig.

    Michaels’ career took an odd detour, traveling to Hawaii to cover their football and baseball teams. Michaels’s next gig would take him to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was the broadcaster for Reds games.

    Michaels’ Big Break

    Michaels’ broadcasting career took off in 1972, getting chosen as a broadcaster for the Winter Olympics, covering ice hockey. He would continue perfecting the broadcasting art form, covering the World Series and other sporting events.

    Michaels joined ABC full-time as one of their primary broadcasters. He worked with the baseball broadcasting team alongside Keith Jackson.

    Michaels received nationwide acclaim for his work on Monday Night Football alongside Frank Gifford and Dan Dierdorf. Additionally, Michaels covered figure skating with Peggy Flemming and Dick Button.

    During the “Miracle On Ice,” Michaels provided sports fans with one of the greatest calls in TV history, “Do you believe in miracles? YES!”
