Akron Earns No. 16 National Seed in NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men's soccer team learned its draw for the 2022 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship on Monday, Nov. 14, and the Zips (11-3-5) earned the No. 16 national seed and will host the winner of the Pittsburgh (8-4-5)/Cleveland State (11-3-5) match in second-round action on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 1 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium.

In the other half of the Zips' draw, No. 1 Kentucky (14-0-5) awaits the winner of Thursday's Hofstra (14-3-3)/South Florida (8-6-4) tilt on Sunday, Nov. 20.

Also seeded in the Zips' region are No. 8 Oregon State (7-3-6) and No. 9 Lipscomb (14-2-2). The remaining top-four overall national seeds went to No. 2 Washington (15-1-3), No. 3 Syracuse (14-2-4) and No. 4 Virginia (10-4-4).
 
The 2022 College Cup will be played at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., on Dec. 9 and 12.

The Zips will be making their 35th all-time appearance in the NCAA postseason.
