2024 AKRON FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

AKRON, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference unveiled its football schedule for the 2024 season as Akron under the direction of third-year head coach Joe Moorhead is set to play eight MAC games, including four at InfoCision Stadium, the league announced on Tuesday.
 
Akron will kick off its 2024 campaign with a pair of road games against Big Ten opponents before its home opener versus Colgate on Sept. 14 at InfoCision Stadium. The Zips travel Columbus, Ohio for the season opener to battle Ohio State on Aug. 31 before heading to Piscataway, N.J. to play the Rutgers on Sept. 7.
 
On Saturday, Sept. 14, the Zips host Colgate for its home opener at InfoCision Stadium and rounds-out non-conference portion of the schedule in Columbia, S.C. against the Gamecocks of South Carolina on Sept. 21.
 
Akron kicks off league action on Saturday, Sept. 28 against Ohio before
 
welcoming Bowling Green to InfoCision Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 5 for the MAC home opener. The Zips will be on the road again on Saturday, Oct. 12, traveling too Kalamazoo, Mich. to face Western Michigan.
 
Akron will be at home the following two weeks, hosting Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 26 and Buffalo on Saturday, Nov. 2 at InfoCision Stadium.
 
Back-to-back road tilts follow at Northern Illinois and rival Kent State for midweek #MACtion. On Wednesday, Nov. 13 the Zips will play the Huskies in DeKalb, Ill. On Tuesday, Nov. 19 the Zips are scheduled to defend their 2023 Wagon Wheel triumph against the Golden Flashes at Dix Stadium in Kent, Ohio.
 
Akron rounds out its regular season at home against Toledo Tuesday, Nov. 26. at InfoCision Stadium.
 
The MAC will release an updated schedule later this spring with game times and television for the first three weeks of the regular season and its midweek #MACtion schedule. All remaining game times and television will be announced 12 days prior to the scheduled game. Games will air on ESPN platforms (ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU/ESPN+/ESPN3) and CBS Sports Network.
 
The new MAC scheduling model eliminates the MAC East and West Divisions. The top-two teams based on conference winning percentage will compete in the MAC Football Championship Game at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich.
 
This new model will allow for each team to face all 11 conference opponents home and away at least once during a three-year cycle. Additionally, the new format will incorporate protected opponents based on geographic location and rivalries. The full 2024 football schedule will be released at the end of February.
