INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- Adrian Peterson, playing in the first game of his 15th NFL season after signing with the Titans last week, scored a milestone touchdown in helping Tennessee to a huge 28-16 road win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night.
Peterson's 1-yard TD run, which came with 3 minutes left in the showdown between conference co-leaders, was his 125th career score, tying him with Walter Payton for 11th most in NFL history.
"It's a blessing," Peterson said. "Here I am in a situation to continue to pass and approach guys that inspired me to be great and be the best that I can be."
Peterson, 36, had been out of the league before he signed with the Titans on Monday to replace the injured Derrick Henry. Tennessee promptly put him in the starting lineup, and though he rushed for just 21 yards on 10 carries, Peterson's fourth-quarter run gave him 119 rushing TDs for his career and 125 overall.
"I thought he brought an energy and a professionalism,'' said Titans coach Mike Vrabel.
Peterson's next touchdown will put him in a tie with Jim Brown for 10th on the all-time list.
The Titans, at 7-2, own the best record in the AFC and are on an NFL-best five-game winning streak. They host the New Orleans Saints next Sunday at Nissan Stadium.
