One of the short films found on the supplements for The Show showing how Faith ended up in the hospital.
A 5 minute story stretched to 16.
This woman seems nothing like the version of Faith we see in The Show (though to be fair, she was role playing).
Intriguing, with the type of surprise ending that leaves you satisfied and interested in seeing more.

I like short films, especially those with a sting in the tail. This offering from legendary graphic novelist Alan Moore and Mitch Jenkins certainly has that, though I can appreciate there will be a lot of 'wtf' reactions from people who are unfamiliar with the dark worlds of Moore or short films of this ilk in general. This generation missed out on 'Tales Of The Unexpected' alas. In fairness to them for a good deal of the 15 minute duration I was wondering where the hell it was going too. But for me, that's part of the fun.
15 minutes long, sinister, insidious, amusing, depraved and beautifully shot. Worth your time.

Act of Faith is the first of two recently-released shorts written by Alan Moore. (There must be some big Alan Moore fans on here... I can't really be the first on this site to see it.)
This 15 minute film about a woman getting dressed up on a Friday night is meant as a prelude to the longer Jimmy's End but is in itself very clever, repeatedly fucking with assumptions about whether it's going to be fun / hot / painful, and with one scene in the middle which is very funny and sexy and then will probably make you uncomfortable for laughing all at once. Con todo lo fan de Alan Moore que soy, no ha terminado de convencerme esto. Espero que Jimmy`s End sea mejor, y realce este, pero la male gaze y esa muerte no me transmitieron mucho de lo que espera: algo sobre el barrio, más allá del comentario del padre sobre su pega periodística, creo que ahí estaba la historia que no fue.

The first in a collection of short films written by Alan Moore, ACT OF FAITH is a 17-or-so minute film that falls into one of the genres I really don't enjoy--a chamber piece where a lot of the interest the filmmakers try to generate is by getting the audience to guess if the woman in the room is going to have sex, or going to kill herself. There is a twist, natch, and unfortunately, it's about the most depressing choice they could have gone with (and if your mind operates in certain morbid frequencies, the most obvious) and....that's it, really. It's strange to think that this short film, and the reception to it, partially led comics legend Alan Moore to somewhat retreat from public life, saying he would no longer grant interviews to the press. Act of Faith is written by Moore and directed by his friend Mitch Jenkins and is the first in a series of 5 short films that link together to tell a larger story.
At a screening of the film, some goober named Will Brooker was apparently so offended that he ran off into the night, incensed and tweeting angrily. The Comics Internet, a teapot always in search of a tempest, erupted. One thing led to another, blah blah blah, so on and so on, etc.…
