The mandolin is still new to my life relatively and it's mysteries are gradually being revealed. This time I became obsessed with the deep space echo and that ghost of a ghost of voice captured in the analogue reverb, a parallel world for caverns and forests where ancestors heard their totemic reverberations. I also allowed, invited the double-course strings to remind my fingers of the Egyptian oud upon which I once played maqqams and the synthesizer provides some background support and orientation that brings up something of a raga feel at times. Each piece starts out as an improvisation based on the first four or five notes taken onto a further level of meditation on form until I the serpent finds its own tail and usually grabs it or it dangles with suggestion.
