This is as relevant today as it was back then. "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves" - Abraham Lincoln

“Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant to step the ocean and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia, and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest, with a Bonaparte for a commander, could not by force take a drink from the Ohio or make a track on the Blue Ridge in a trial of a thousand years.

At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer. If it ever reach us it must spring up amongst us; it cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen we must live through all time or die by suicide.”

Por que no los dos?

Basically, every society has corrupt elements.

To destroy America, all our foreign adversaries have had to do is fund our own extremely corrupt, domestic traitors (largely Republican, and Democrats and independent spoilers also).

We don't swiftly execute traitors, they just walk around like normal people for the most part, shielded by our extremely corrupt and outdated political and legal systems.

We're not as indestructible/invincible as our own propaganda would have us believe.

We're not defeated yet either, but some humility is certainly in order.

Certainly makes sense given the time he lived, but it sure rings true today.

This man knew exactly what he was saying. So so true. Such a brilliant man...great President!

The Monitor by Titus Andronicus is a must listen....

That is a superb quote.

I'm less concerned about any foreign invasion than key rights and resources being sold out from under us by the people we put in power.

THERE'LL BE NO MORE COUNTING THE CARS ON THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY

NOR WAITING FOR THE FUNG WAH BUS TO CARRY ME TO WHO KNOWS WHERE

This is why we need to be so warry of foreign wars, do not let them convince you that we are in danger.
