  1. The marvel of Darvel

    FT: Darvel 1-0 Aberdeen

The party is in full swing down in Darvel after a stunning performance.

A sixth-tier side knocking one of the Premiership big boys out of the Scottish Cup? Absolutely remarkable.

The Dons have some serious soul searching to do... Will Jim Goodwin survive?

The last word has to be on Darvel though. What an achievement. That party may well be going for a while.

  2. 'Extremely disappointed, embarrassed, humiliated'

    FT: Darvel 0-1 Aberdeen

Asked where this result leaves him, Jim Goodwin replies: "Extremely disappointed, embarrassed, humiliated. All of those things really. We have a bit of assessing to do tonight that’s for sure."

And has he had time for words with chairman Dave Cormack, who was watching on at Recreation Park?

"No I’ve not spoken to him, I was in the dressing room speaking to the players," comes the answer at the end of a brief interview.

  3. 'I want to congratulate Darvel' - Goodwin

    FT: Darvel 1-0 Aberdeen

"I don’t want to talk about how bad my team’s performance was, I want to congratulate Darvel," says Aberdeen boss Jim Goodwin. "I thought they were excellent on the night, got their noses in front and defended for their lives. They thoroughly deserved their victory."

    On the goal disallowed...

"I’m sure you guys have had plenty of time to watch it. I thought it was onside at the time but we’re clutching at straws when we’re asking for decisions like that. We’ve come here as the Premiership team against a team who are many tiers below us and we should've put on a better performance, it’s as simple as that.

"If the goal was a good goal and it’s been chalked off, that’s a major disappointment but, as I said, I think it would have been an injustice if that had happened because I thought Darvel thoroughly deserved to win the game."

  4. Post update

    FT: Darvel 1-0 Aberdeen

The other Truesdale was impressive too, with Craig getting the man-of-the-match honours from our co-commentator James McFadden. He was everywhere tonight.

I'm told they just share a name, no relation.

  5. True grit from Truesdale

    FT: Darvel 1-0 Aberdeen

What a performance from Darvel goalkeeper Chris Truesdale.

Three outstanding saves. One unforgettable night.

  6. 'Don't doubt Darvel'

    FT: Darvel 1-0 Aberdeen

    Willie Miller

Former Aberdeen captain on BBC Scotland

Quote Message: You wouldn't bet against Darvel [when they host Falkirk in the next round]. I thought the performance tonight was polished. It had everything you'd hope to see in football - not in the level they play at, but at the very top level.
  7. Post update

    FT: Darvel 1-0 Aberdeen

Still no sign of Jim Goodwin...

  8. Dressing room delirium

  9. 'Aberdeen players scared to make mistakes'

    FT: Darvel 1-0 Aberdeen

    Leanne Crichton

    Ex-Scotland international on BBC Scotland

Quote Message: Tonight it looked like, to me, players who were scared to make a mistake. Individuals who were more comfortable passing the buck onto other people and having them make decisions. There's real question marks over the style and identity of Aberdeen.
  10. 'Serious discussions between Goodwin and Cormack'

    FT: Darvel 1-0 Aberdeen

    Willie Miller

Former Aberdeen captain on BBC Scotland

Quote Message: It's a really difficult situation that he [Dave Cormack] finds himself in. It's a huge decision for him. I think Jim Goodwin and the chairman will have to have serious discussions. I don't know if there's enough good will from the chairman to allow Goodwin to stay.

  11. Post update

    FT: Darvel 1-0 Aberdeen

The TV coverage is over now and there was no sign of Aberdeen manager Jim Goodwin. No doubt he'll be giving his players a serious dressing down after that display.

That's one win in nine and this bruising defeat comes after shipping five goals away to Hearts.

  12. 'Togetherness and love and respect'

    FT: Darvel 1-0 Aberdeen

A bit more from Darvel manager Mick Kennedy, who tells BBC Sportscene: "I believed in the guys all week. It's about togetherness and love and respect. We've been driving that home all week.

"We probably deserved going in front. We had to show our togetherness. The community has been unbelievable. From the first day I came here I told the board we are going to build something special."

  13. 'Hopefully I can get the night off'

    FT: Darvel 1-0 Aberdeen

Goal hero Jordan Kirkpatrick tells BBC Scotland: "I'm meant to be at work tomorrow, hopefully I can get the night off.

"It's hard to explain right now. It's a bit surreal. I need time to digest it over the night. I didn't even think it was the best of strikes. One of those ones where you hope it hits the back of the net and it does.

"It just shows you with our standard that we can step up."

  14. Post update

    FT: Darvel 1-0 Aberdeen

Where Darvel go next in the Scottish Cup is another home tie against Falkirk.

The Bairns, second in League 1 at the moment, will know they are in for a tough, tough day.

  15. Post update

    FT: Darvel 1-0 Aberdeen

"It's remarkable what you achieve when you believe in each other," says Darvel manager Mick Kennedy.

Asked where the club can go now, he replies dead-pan: "Arthurlie on Saturday, we need the three points".

We'll bring you more from the boss, who was talking 100 miles an hour there...

  16. 'Magic of the cup'

    FT: Darvel 1-0 Aberdeen

    Leanne Crichton

    Ex-Scotland international on BBC Scotland

Quote Message: We speak about the magic of the cup. These guys have probably taken time off their work to prepare for this game today. It's absolutely outstanding to see.
  17. 'Darvel were the better team'

    FT: Darvel 1-0 Aberdeen

    Willie Miller

Former Aberdeen captain on BBC Scotland

Quote Message: To be perfectly honest, Darvel were the better team. Aberdeen had the ball in the back of the net and it should have stood. But it was a magnificent performance from Darvel. It's party night!
