Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Dewi D1 contributionBrilliant tour by Tony! It was longer than I thought it would be, a good hour and a half! It’s right next to the Hippodrome theatre and right next to lots of Asian restaurants, so it’s a good day out :)Written 25 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Christopher C10 contributionsCadbury World is a great day out with the whole family. Fun for the kids and great for the adults too. The history of the Cadburys is really interesting too.Written 12 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Soleil_rouge25Birmingham, UK109 contributionsI’m a regular at Symphony Hall but the Classic FM Hall of Fame with Michael Seal and Tessa Lark on 19 April was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! How lucky and lovely to have John Suchet introducing each piece and the awesome orchestra getting up for our applause every time.
It was a night to remember forever, I am booking every single one now. Especially when Michael Seal literally jumped off the conductor’s podium for that last note of Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King!! Loved that!
Kudos for the program organisers, great mix of calm, contemplative and fun. Best part was seeing the faces of teenagers light up at the John Williams’ famous tunes. To finish with Holst’s Jupiter just brought me to euphoric tears.
Great night, thank you CBSO!Written 21 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The communal spaces in the front are great. Lots of bars and prices not too badly priced (for a theatre). We preordered interval drinks and it worked perfectly.
The auditorium was a little warm in the upper circle and the seats cramped but not to the point of being uncomfortable. We all enjoyed the show. The views are excellent even from the ‘cheap’ seats in the gods.
All the staff we encountered were polite and helpful. As with all theatres the queues for the toilets at the interval were an issue. They could do with installing more. The all gender toilets were good to see too. Even if it caused some confusion for some people.Written 8 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Carol was very welcoming / knowledgeable/ humorous and caring - Carol knows her stuff. We finished off a very special day with a first class lunch. This is a must for football fans - on our toys we had baggies and a spurs fan - top notch trip.Written 24 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tony DLivingston, UK258 contributionsAmazing building, worth a visit. More than just a library, it has (at the moment) a tourist visit information desk on the ground floor, (very helpful), to the secret garden on the 7th floor, to the reconstructed 19th century Shakespeare room on the 9th floor.Written 28 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Freedom485651374111 contributionA fantastic 2.5 hours with my 4 yr old granddaughter. Awesome to see the sea otters and the penguins and lttle one was amazed to touch a starfish and see a seahorse! There was definetely more to see so a return visit is on the cards! All the staff we interacted with were really good; the talk about the otters who were separated from their parents and are relocated in Birmingham was very moving. Rachel, with whom we chatted for ages about the penguins and then later in the VR suite was utterly delightful.......very child centred and fun. Very good value with an adult and preschooler ticket in term time on week days!
I was glad that I went for opening time as (and this was the only reason for 4, not 5 stars, was that it did get a bit busy for the 4 yr old later in the morningWritten 20 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Richard BSolihull52 contributionsJust returned from a fascinating 2 hour tour of these old and famous (for links with royalty) coffin works in central Birmingham. Mark, our superb guide, used this particular trade of coffin making to bring to life the UK's, and particularly Birmingham's, tough social history, making us realise just how far we have come in the last 130 or so years. We saw the craftsmanship and were brought face to face with the hardship of the early times. Highly recommended.Written 17 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- john r1 contributionAttended the ‘Ride a Classic’ afternoon event on 6th April, there was, as always, a varied selection of old British bikes available to ride. The event was well attended and very well organised. This was the fourth time I have been lucky enough to have been invited and I don’t think twice about the 350 mile round trip. My companion for the day even got half price admission. Big thanks to all the museum staff and volunteers who make the event possible.Written 8 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andyav8 contributionsThis is one of my favourite buildings in Brum. Once inside this hidden Gem to many is beautifully appointed.
The art on display dates from 13th century Italy until the modernists. Superb and exhibitions put on through the year and new works mean you don't have to visit once.
The staff are wonderful and so helpful. I can't wait for the refurb to be finished.Written 5 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Some independent stores and big chains alike. Can be a bit overcrowded at times though.Written 25 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Steven B3 contributionsOverall an ok visit. Went with wife and 13 and 9 year old daughters. Some of the models and simulators/exhibits wasn’t working. And some for the 9 year old was over complicated to use (mostly the video screens to control a robot or drone type of object), and some was fairly worn. The planetarium was good and interesting but should be included in admission. Not an extra £3 each for each show. Overall the visit was ok. The girls enjoyed some exhibits and some went over their heads as does some exhibits for most people. The staff were helpful and informative. The cafe was expensive for the food served. Sandwiches was from £4. Amongst the moaning, overall the visit was good and entertaining.Written 7 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JPBScio, NY28 contributionsThis was a wonderful surprise!
The displays are fascinating and the hands-on make your own nib was so much fun!
The tour guide was so knowledgeable about all aspects of pen making.
We truly enjoyed it and recommend it highly!Written 29 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We decided to drive as it has its own free car park, the inside tour is very much a self tour & much of the interior first 2 floors are open, the inside is fab with lovely oak & superb plaster work, we spent about an hour & a half looking round- the highlight for me was the long room, there are only minimal staff but they are very friendly & knowledgeable, the outside gardens are nice - even in February!Written 7 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
